The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 lists Wi-Fi 5 and up to 2.8 Gbps. Both platforms specify a Kryo CPU up to 2.4 GHz and a 4 nm process, but those figures—and Qualcomm’s gaming claims—do not establish which chip is faster in everyday use. No matched benchmark test on comparable phones is available here, so a performance winner cannot be named reliably.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 vs Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 specifications
The table summarizes the platform capabilities Qualcomm lists. They are not guarantees that every phone using a platform will implement every feature; Qualcomm advises checking the phone maker’s specifications for device-level details.

Which processor is faster?
The published specifications do not settle that question. Both list a maximum CPU clock of 2.4 GHz and a 4 nm process, but clock speed and process labels alone cannot predict how fast a finished phone feels or how long its battery lasts. Qualcomm’s 77% GPU improvement for the 4 Gen 5 is measured against its previous generation, not the 6 Gen 3. Likewise, the 90 FPS statement is a capability claim, not evidence that games run faster on the 4 Gen 5 than on the 6 Gen 3. Display refresh support and a game’s rendered frame rate are related but distinct.

What the available benchmark results show—and do not show
Notebookcheck lists a Geekbench 6.7.1 single-core result of 976 points for the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. That is a listing-level result, not a guaranteed score for every phone with the chip. 91mobiles describes its AnTuTu result for the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 as the highest recorded among devices it tested. These figures come from different benchmarks and sampling methods; they cannot be compared as if they were a head-to-head test.
A useful direct comparison would run the same benchmark version on named retail phones and disclose memory, firmware, cooling, and test conditions. No such matched result is established by the available figures. See the Notebookcheck Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 listing and 91mobiles Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 listing for their respective results and descriptions.

Connectivity: the clearest listed difference
Qualcomm lists Wi-Fi 6/6E and peak cellular downloads up to 2.9 Gbps for the 6 Gen 3, compared with Wi-Fi 5 and up to 2.8 Gbps for the 4 Gen 5. These are platform maximums, not typical real-world speeds. Actual Wi-Fi and mobile data performance depends on the handset’s implementation, supported bands, network, signal, and other conditions; a phone maker may not implement every platform capability.
What to check when choosing a phone
Because the chip specifications cannot determine a matched performance winner, compare the exact phones you are considering. Check their maker’s specification pages for the chipset, Wi-Fi generation, display refresh rate, memory, battery capacity, and supported cellular bands. Cooling, software, and the phone’s display can also affect gaming and everyday use. A chipset feature is useful only if the handset implements it and the services or networks you use can take advantage of it.

Keep Snapdragon generations distinct
Qualcomm’s May 7, 2026 announcement introduced Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 alongside Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, and named OPPO, realme, and REDMI among planned Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 device makers for the second half of 2026. That announcement is about Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, not Snapdragon 6 Gen 3; it does not provide a direct comparison between the two chips discussed here. The release also does not establish a specific current retail phone model using either platform. Read Qualcomm’s May 7, 2026 announcement.
