Take a hands-free photo with Voice commands or Show palm
- Open the Camera app.
- Open Settings. On some interfaces, tap Quick controls (the four-dot icon) first, then tap the Settings icon.
- Tap Shooting methods.
- Turn on Voice commands to trigger a capture with a preset phrase such as “Smile,” “Cheese,” or “Capture.” Alternatively, turn on Show palm, then show your palm to the camera.
For a group shot, position the phone so the camera has a clear view of everyone; a stand or tripod is optional. Samsung describes these hands-free methods for group photos, including when the phone is propped up. The exact menu labels can differ; consult the support page for your specific Galaxy model if you cannot find the setting.

Capture a rapid series with Burst Shot
Burst Shot is the feature for taking multiple consecutive frames. On supported current models, look in Camera > Settings > Swipe Shutter button to and choose the burst option. The gesture uses the shutter control, so it is not touch-free. Samsung’s S25-family instructions and Z Flip6 camera guide describe model-specific controls; the option or gesture may differ or be absent on another phone.

Use the timer for a delayed shot, not a burst
A timer gives you time to get into position before a capture. It does not mean the camera is taking a rapid sequence. Samsung lists timer controls in its Galaxy S25-family camera guidance; whether the camera takes one or more timed photos can depend on the device and its settings.
Try Single Take for a mix of results
On supported devices, open Camera > More > Single Take and start a session. It captures a variety of stills and video clips, rather than simply triggering repeated photos in ordinary Photo mode. Available editing options differ among models, as Samsung explains in its Single Take instructions.

Other controls that still require a touch
Some Galaxy models offer a floating shutter button or let you configure the volume buttons to take a photo. These can make the shutter easier to reach, but they still require touching the phone, so they are not hands-free in the strict sense. Samsung lists such controls in its Z Flip6 camera guidance.
