The 4 Gen 5 has the higher listed peak CPU clock; the 6 Gen 1 lists newer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth versions. Qualcomm’s performance percentages compare each platform with a previous-generation baseline, not with each other, and no controlled head-to-head benchmark is established.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 vs Snapdragon 4 Gen 5: specifications
| Specification | Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 | Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturing process | 4 nm, according to Qualcomm | 4 nm, according to Qualcomm |
| Maximum listed CPU clock | Up to 2.2 GHz | Up to 2.4 GHz |
| Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi 6E | Wi-Fi 5 |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth 5.2 | Bluetooth 5.1 |
| Cellular information listed | Snapdragon X62 modem | Peak download up to 2.8 Gbps, upload up to 900 Mbps, and 140 MHz sub-6 GHz bandwidth |
These are platform specifications published by Qualcomm, not guarantees for every phone using the chip. In particular, the 4 Gen 5’s listed clock is 0.2 GHz higher, but peak clock alone cannot predict speed: the available specifications do not establish matching CPU core configurations, sustained performance, or how a retail phone handles heat and power.

Which chipset is faster?
The comparison is unresolved on the evidence available. Qualcomm says the 6 Gen 1 offers up to 35% better CPU performance and up to 30% better GPU performance than its previous-generation baseline. For the 4 Gen 5, Qualcomm claims up to 77% improved GPU performance, 10% better power savings, 25% less screen stutter, and 43% faster app launches versus its own previous-generation baseline. These percentages use different prior-generation comparisons, so they cannot be used to rank the two chips against each other.
A fair benchmark comparison would require test results from identified phones, using the same benchmark app and version, comparable software and operating settings, and disclosed thermal conditions. No such direct 6 Gen 1 versus 4 Gen 5 result is established here. Scores from different phones or test versions would not settle the question reliably.

What the connectivity differences mean
On Qualcomm’s published specifications, the 6 Gen 1 supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, while the 4 Gen 5 lists Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. A phone can use these capabilities only if its hardware implementation supports them; Wi-Fi experience also depends on the router and local network. Cellular performance and availability depend on the handset’s supported bands, carrier, and network conditions. The 4 Gen 5’s peak modem figures are specifications, not a promise of those speeds in everyday use.
What is known about Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 phones?
Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 on May 7, 2026, and said commercial devices from global OEMs including Honor, OPPO, realme, and REDMI were expected in the second half of 2026. That announcement does not confirm that a particular phone has launched or is available in a specific country. Verify the chipset on the manufacturer’s specification page for the exact model before comparing or buying.
