On paper, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is the clearly newer chip. Qualcomm lists a 4 nm process, a CPU up to 2.3 GHz, LPDDR5 memory support and sub-6 GHz 5G. MediaTek’s 2020 Helio G70 is a 12 nm, LTE-only design with LPDDR3/LPDDR4X support. An aggregator’s AnTuTu 10 listing puts the Snapdragon about 86% ahead (463,277 vs 249,042). That listing is not a controlled test, so treat the gap as a direction rather than an exact measure.
Specifications side by side
Snapdragon figures come from Qualcomm’s current Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 platform page (accessed 2026). Helio G70 figures come from MediaTek’s 2020 Helio G70 infographic. Both are vendor-authored, so they describe what the platform supports, not what a given phone delivers.

| Axis | Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 | Helio G70 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Process | 4 nm | 12 nm | Snapdragon uses the newer, smaller node. That alone does not give a quantified battery-life figure. |
| CPU | 64-bit Kryo, up to 2.3 GHz (core layout not spelled out on the page reviewed) | 2x Cortex-A75 up to 2.0 GHz + 6x Cortex-A55 up to 1.7 GHz | Snapdragon has the higher stated peak clock. Architecture and phone-maker tuning matter as much as clocks. |
| GPU | Adreno (model and clock not stated on the page reviewed) | Arm Mali-G52 MC2 at 820 MHz | There is not enough published detail for a like-for-like GPU spec ranking. |
| Memory | LPDDR5; Qualcomm cites memory speed up to 3.2 GHz | LPDDR3 933 MHz up to 4 GB, or LPDDR4X 1800 MHz up to 8 GB | Snapdragon supports a newer memory generation. The RAM a phone actually ships with varies. |
| Cellular | 5G sub-6 GHz; peak 2.5 Gbps down, 0.9 Gbps up | LTE Cat-7, 2-carrier aggregation | Only the Snapdragon offers 5G. Real speeds depend on the phone’s bands and the carrier. |
| Wi-Fi / Bluetooth | Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 | 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 | Wi-Fi class is the same. Bluetooth versions differ slightly. |
Benchmark comparison
The TopCPU comparison page lists AnTuTu 10 scores of 463,277 for the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 and 249,042 for the Helio G70. Its publication date is not stated, and the figures were read from search-indexed results in 2026.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- The listing does not say which retail phones were used, nor the firmware, cooling, RAM configuration or test protocol.
- AnTuTu is a synthetic aggregate of CPU, GPU, memory and UX tests. It says little about sustained gaming or thermal throttling.
- No independent, controlled head-to-head test of the two chips turned up, so the numbers are best used to show which chip is likely faster, not by how much.
The direction agrees with the specifications: a newer 4 nm chip with higher clocks and faster memory support should outscore a 2020 12 nm design.

Where the Helio G70 positions itself
MediaTek describes the chip this way: “MediaTek Helio G70 incorporates a pair of powerful Arm Cortex-A75 CPUs operating up to 2GHz, plus six Cortex-A55 CPUs operating at up to 1.7GHz for improved single and multicore performance.” That is promotional copy. It does show that the G70 is an eight-core design with a two-plus-six split, aimed at budget gaming phones, and MediaTek’s HyperEngine gaming features are likewise a vendor claim.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the specs do not tell you
- Battery life: the 4 nm versus 12 nm gap suggests an efficiency advantage, but no matched-phone endurance tests were found. Battery capacity, display and software tuning change the result.
- Gaming: GPU models and clocks are not comparable from the published data, and throttling depends on the phone’s cooling.
- Charging: Qualcomm says Quick Charge is designed to add up to 50% in 15 minutes, but actual results vary with device design. This is a platform claim, not a comparison with the G70.
Choosing between phones
No source reviewed names specific phones currently on sale with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, and the Helio G70 appears mainly in older budget models. Availability and pricing vary by country, so compare actual handsets on these points:
- Price and the RAM/storage configuration you are really getting.
- 5G and LTE band support for your carrier. The Snapdragon’s 5G only matters if the phone and network support matching bands.
- Software and security update commitments from the manufacturer.
- Battery capacity and independent endurance results.
- Display, camera implementation and thermals.
If two phones cost the same, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 model is the stronger pick on every published chip-level measure: process, peak CPU speed, memory generation, 5G and the aggregator’s benchmark. A well-built Helio G70 phone only makes sense if it is much cheaper, is heavily discounted, or has better battery, display or update support.
