Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is the stronger chip on paper and in the one third-party benchmark comparison available. It has more high-performance CPU cores, a higher peak clock, Wi-Fi 6E, mmWave plus sub-6 GHz 5G support and a higher display ceiling. Both are listed by Qualcomm as 4 nm platforms. The scores below are platform-level figures, not guarantees for any given phone, because cooling, RAM, software and tuning change real results.
Specifications side by side
Figures come from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 page, its 4 Gen 2 product brief and the 6s Gen 4 product brief. They are platform ceilings; a phone maker can ship lower.

| GPU | Adreno; OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.1, OpenCL 2.0 | Adreno; HDR gaming listed; same major APIs |
| 5G | Snapdragon X61, sub-6 GHz only; up to 2.5 Gbps down, 900 Mbps up | Qualcomm 5G Modem-RF System; mmWave and sub-6 GHz; up to 2.9 Gbps down |
| Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi 5 | Wi-Fi 6E |
| Display (max) | FHD+ at up to 120 Hz | FHD+ at up to 144 Hz |
| Qualcomm’s own generational claim | Up to 10% CPU improvement over its predecessor | 36% CPU and 59% GPU improvement over its predecessor |
The last row is not a head-to-head. Each percentage compares a chip with its own predecessor, so the two cannot be set against each other.
What the differences mean
CPU
The 6s Gen 4 has four performance cores against two on the 4 Gen 2, and a slightly higher peak clock. That should help heavier multitasking, app launches and sustained CPU work. The 4 Gen 2 has six efficiency cores, which suits light tasks but offers less headroom.

Connectivity
The 6s Gen 4’s mmWave support matters only where carriers deploy it, and Wi-Fi 6E needs a compatible router and a region that allows the 6 GHz band. The 4 Gen 2 is limited to sub-6 GHz 5G and Wi-Fi 5, which covers most everyday use. Band support in a finished phone depends on the model and region.
Display
Both support FHD+ panels with high refresh rates, 120 Hz versus 144 Hz. Many phones on either chip use lower-refresh panels, so check the handset’s own spec.

| Test | Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 | Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu (CPU, GPU, memory, UX workload) | 478,134 | 889,090 | About 86% higher for 6s Gen 4 |
| Geekbench single-core | 952 | 1,016 | About 7% higher for 6s Gen 4 |
The percentage differences are my arithmetic from those figures. The gap is much larger in AnTuTu, which also stresses GPU and memory, than in single-core Geekbench, so the advantage is mainly in multi-core and graphics-heavy work rather than snappiness in single-threaded tasks. The page does not give enough test detail to treat the margin as device-independent.
For a sense of handset variance, Notebookcheck lists Geekbench 6.7.1 single-core scores of 1,012 for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and 1,014 for the Motorola Moto G57 Power, both on the 6s Gen 4. Those sit close to 91mobiles’ 1,016, but test versions and contexts may differ, so don’t merge the datasets.
No like-for-like Qualcomm benchmark of these two chips and no independent controlled test of sustained gaming or battery life was identified. Anything beyond the figures above would be a guess.

Choosing a phone rather than a chip
Only CPU, GPU, network and display ceilings have platform-level official facts. Battery life, thermals and software support depend on the handset. Compare these on the actual phone:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Price, and RAM and storage configuration
- Battery capacity and charging speed
- Panel resolution and real refresh rate
- Supported 5G bands for your carrier
- Software update commitment
- Independent sustained-performance reviews
If the price gap is small, the 6s Gen 4 is the safer pick for headroom and connectivity. If a 4 Gen 2 phone is clearly cheaper and you mainly browse, message and stream, its lower ceiling is unlikely to matter day to day.
