Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is the stronger chipset overall on the available CPU benchmark figures and offers a newer CPU design, a 6nm process and 5G connectivity. Helio G35 is a 4G chipset with eight older Cortex-A53 cores. The benchmark numbers below are comparison-page results, not guaranteed scores for every phone.

Specifications are chipset capabilities, not a promise that every phone will implement them. The phone maker’s design and regional model configuration determine which features are actually available. CPU architecture: why the higher clock does not make Helio G35 faster
Helio G35’s eight Cortex-A53 cores can reach 2.3GHz, while Snapdragon 4 Gen 1’s reported CPU layout pairs two Cortex-A78 cores, up to 2GHz, with six Cortex-A55 cores, up to 1.8GHz. Clock speed is only one part of CPU performance: the core designs differ, so comparing the maximum GHz figures alone is misleading. Qualcomm describes its CPU as Kryo; the Cortex core breakdown is reported by NanoReview.

The mix of newer, higher-performance cores in Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is consistent with its lead in the benchmark figures below. Those figures are useful for orientation, but they do not predict the exact speed of every handset.

They are not controlled guarantees for phones using either chip: handset cooling, software, power limits, temperature and benchmark version can all affect a run. Graphics, process and gaming expectations
Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 uses an Adreno GPU and is built on a 6nm process, which Qualcomm describes as the first 6nm node in the Snapdragon 4 series. Helio G35 pairs IMG PowerVR GE8320 graphics, specified up to 680MHz, with a 12nm FinFET process.

The supplied specifications do not establish a matched, independent gaming test between the two chips. GPU names and process size alone cannot show how a particular game will perform: resolution, graphics settings, phone cooling, software tuning and sustained power limits matter. Treat vendor performance language as positioning rather than a cross-chip game benchmark.

Connectivity: 5G is the clearest practical difference
Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 includes Qualcomm’s X51 modem and supports sub-6GHz 5G. Helio G35 is an LTE/4G platform. Both list Wi-Fi 5; Qualcomm lists Bluetooth 5.2 for Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, compared with Bluetooth 5.0 for Helio G35.

5G capability on the chipset does not ensure that every Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 phone supports the bands used by a particular carrier. Before buying, check the exact handset model and its local network-band compatibility. MediaTek announced Helio G35 as a mainstream gaming smartphone chipset on June 30, 2020; that launch positioning is not an independent performance measurement. Read MediaTek’s launch announcement.
Which chipset should you choose?
Choose a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 phone if
- You want 5G capability, subject to the phone’s bands and your carrier’s coverage.
- You prioritize CPU performance based on the published Geekbench 5 comparison.
- You are comparing two otherwise suitable phones and want the newer CPU architecture and 6nm process.
Consider a Helio G35 phone if
- The specific phone better fits your budget or needs; chipset comparisons alone do not establish phone prices or value.
- 4G connectivity meets your requirements and you do not need 5G.
- The handset’s overall package—such as memory, storage, display, battery and software support—is more important to you than the chipset lead.
Compare the complete phones, not only the processors
A chipset is not usually a standalone consumer purchase. NanoReview lists the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 5G and Motorola Moto G (2024) among phones using Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, but that listing does not establish current stock, price or availability in a particular region. For any specific pair of phones, compare the exact model and region, including RAM, storage, display, battery, software support, price and supported radio bands. A better chipset specification does not automatically make one complete phone the better buy.
