Which Snagit plan should you choose?
Choose Individual for one person
Individual is the straightforward choice if you are buying for yourself and do not need a transferable license, seats for colleagues, or offline activation. The subscription is tied to one person and cannot be transferred to someone else.

Create adds access to premium images, exclusive templates, and AI-generated visuals. The useful comparison is whether you will use those extras enough to justify its higher current price; the cited comparison does not state that price, so check the live store before buying.

Choose Pro if unlimited sharing matters
Pro includes the Create tier and unlimited Screencast sharing. That makes its distinguishing benefit the sharing allowance, rather than a different core Snagit license model.
Choose Business for licensing and deployment needs
TechSmith identifies business licensing for buyers who need to transfer a license, purchase on behalf of someone else, manage multiple users, or activate offline. It is per-user and uses a software key; it is not simply the Individual subscription with a different name.
Check education eligibility before purchasing
The educator price is for eligible educators at accredited institutions, and educator licenses are transferable. The student offer is for verified full-time students, is non-transferable, and is listed for the US, UK, and Canada. Eligibility details are on TechSmith’s education discount page.

Does Snagit have a monthly plan or a one-time purchase?
TechSmith says Snagit subscriptions are billed annually and that it does not offer monthly subscriptions for Snagit. A monthly option for Screencast is separate; it does not make Snagit a monthly subscription. TechSmith’s monthly subscription FAQ was updated June 10, 2026.
The current options described by TechSmith are subscription-based. Existing customers with active maintenance agreements may instead have legacy subscription access and pricing terms, so their renewal or extension quote may not match the new Individual plan.

The $39 figure is the US store’s Individual price captured on October 7, 2026, not a global price for every buyer or license. Education has separate eligibility and pricing; business and enterprise pricing can depend on seats, transfer requirements, deployment, and term length.
For a qualifying legacy agreement, TechSmith says active legacy maintenance pricing remains discounted through 2030. The quote can also reflect legacy terms or seat extensions. Existing customers should review their account or ask TechSmith about their specific agreement rather than assume they should replace it with a new Individual subscription. TechSmith lists standalone Assets for Snagit at $49.99 per user per year in a support article updated June 11, 2026, and says Assets is included in Snagit Create and Pro. It describes Assets as a library of premium royalty-free assets. Confirm current pricing and tier inclusions on TechSmith’s Assets page before purchase.
Compatibility and purchase terms to verify
When checked, the US store listed macOS 14 or later and Windows 10 and 11 compatibility, live chat support, a 14-day money-back guarantee, and up to 25 videos on Screencast with all plans. These are store terms and limits that may change; check the live Snagit purchase page for the terms that apply when you buy.
TechSmith’s support policy, updated September 1, 2026, identifies Snagit 2026 as the current version and describes different support arrangements for current subscriptions and older versions. Consult the current support policy if support coverage for a specific version matters.
