If you want to play Slay the Spire 2 now, choose Steam Deck: developer Mega Crit confirms compatibility, and the game is available on Steam Early Access. A Nintendo Switch version has not been confirmed in the official information cited here. If you would rather wait for a finished game or a confirmed console release, hold off instead.
Can you play Slay the Spire 2 on Steam Deck now?
Yes. Mega Crit’s developer-pinned Steam FAQ answers “Yes!” to “Is StS2 Steam Deck compatible?” The game launched into Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026, and its Steam listing identifies it as an Early Access title. Mega Crit’s FAQ and the Steam store listing are the official sources for those details.

That confirmation establishes Steam Deck compatibility, not a performance comparison with another device. The official information cited here does not provide battery-life figures, benchmark results, or a Steam Deck-versus-Switch control comparison, so there is no sourced basis for claiming one handheld runs the game better or lasts longer.

A Switch release has not been confirmed in the official sources cited here. Mega Crit says console and mobile versions likely will not arrive until after Early Access, but that general statement names no specific console and gives no Switch release date. It is not a confirmation that a Switch port is in development, nor does it mean one will never happen.

What are the trade-offs of playing during Early Access?
Steam describes Early Access games as incomplete and says they may or may not change further. Mega Crit says it uses this period for player feedback, balancing, quality-of-life improvements, technical stability, and experimentation. That means the game is playable, but its content and balance are still subject to change.

The Steam listing says more cards, events, environments, enemies, and other content are planned during Early Access. Mega Crit’s stated aims for the full version also include more content, a true ending, additional game modes, balance work, bug fixes, broader hardware compatibility, visual effects, and languages. These are plans, not a guarantee that each item will arrive on a particular date.
Mega Crit has estimated that Early Access might last one to two years, based on the previous game; the FAQ presents that as a possibility, not a promised end date. If you want to experience the game as it develops, Early Access may suit you. If you prefer a completed release with its planned content in place, waiting is the safer choice.

Does the Steam Deck version support co-op?
The Steam version supports solo play and online co-op for up to four players. Mega Crit’s FAQ says co-op is limited to Steam friends and has no matchmaking. The cited sources do not establish local co-op, cross-platform play, or any special Steam Deck multiplayer behavior, so do not assume those features are available.
