Its listed top video mode is 4K at 30fps, but resolution alone does not guarantee clean detail, reliable stabilization, or good audio. TechRadar’s review found notable compromises in those areas, so the C400 makes more sense for portability and casual recording than for creators who prioritize polished footage.
What makes the C400 a 3-in-1 camera?
SJCAM describes the C400 as a pocket camera that can be used independently or mounted on a handle with a larger display and an added battery. The pocket unit weighs 54g; the complete handle configuration weighs 189g, according to SJCAM’s official product specifications.

That split design gives you a smaller option for compact mounting and a more conventional handheld setup for framing and longer sessions. The pocket camera has a 1.3-inch touchscreen; the handle configuration has a 2.29-inch touchscreen. The trade-off is that the camera-only and handle-equipped configurations differ in size, weight, and runtime.
What video and photo modes does it support?
SJCAM lists 4K (3840×2160) at 30fps as the C400’s highest-resolution mode. Other listed modes include 2K (2560×1440) at 60 or 30fps, 1080p at 120, 60, or 30fps, and 720p at 120, 60, or 30fps. Its listed slow-motion modes are 2K at 60fps, 1080p at 120fps, and 720p at 120fps.

These are manufacturer-listed capabilities, not a measure of how good the footage looks. In its February 18, 2026 review, TechRadar reported disappointing image detail and visible artifacts in its test footage. It also described the stabilization as electronic and found its effect unconvincing. The reviewer said horizon leveling substantially reduces resolution. Those observations reflect TechRadar’s review sample and testing, not a guarantee that every recording will look the same.
How long does the battery last?
SJCAM specifies up to 172 minutes at 4K/30fps for the C400 Pocket and up to 437 minutes at 4K/30fps with the handle and its built-in battery. The company says actual recording time varies with settings including resolution, frame rate, screen brightness, and Wi-Fi use.

TechRadar reported around 190 minutes without the handle and 495 minutes with it during its 2026 testing. The review sample was supplied by SJCAM. These are the reviewer’s observed results on that sample and settings, not guaranteed runtimes. The manufacturer’s figures and TechRadar’s test results are different kinds of evidence, so they should not be averaged or treated as interchangeable.
How good are the audio and stabilization?
The official feature list includes six-axis gyro stabilization and a 45° horizon-stability enhancement, but those labels do not establish how natural the footage will look. TechRadar found the stabilization unconvincing and reported that horizon leveling substantially reduces resolution. If smooth, steady footage is central to your use, those reported trade-offs deserve more weight than the feature names.

SJCAM lists one built-in microphone and no external microphone input. TechRadar reported wind noise as a problem. That combination limits the C400’s appeal for dialogue-heavy vlogging or outdoor recording where clear voice audio matters; the reviewed configuration offers no external mic input to address it directly.
What connectivity, storage, and water protection does it offer?
- Storage: SJCAM lists a microSD card slot supporting cards up to 512GB. The sources do not establish a recommended speed class or a particular card model.
- Connections and wireless: The listed features include USB Type-C and Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
- Other uses: SJCAM lists webcam mode and YouTube live streaming.
- Water use: SJCAM specifies waterproofing to 30m when the camera is used with a waterproof case. Do not assume the camera body alone is waterproof.
Who is the C400 best suited to?
The C400 is worth considering if a lightweight camera that can switch between pocket-sized and handheld use is more important to you than consistently polished footage. Its long claimed runtime with the handle may also appeal to people recording for extended stretches without frequent battery changes.

It is a weaker fit if your priority is fine image detail, dependable stabilization, or cleaner wind handling. When comparing it with another camera, weigh the camera-only and handle-equipped runtimes separately, check the stabilization trade-offs, and consider audio needs, mounting flexibility, waterproof-case requirements, and what accessories the exact package includes. TechRadar describes Pocket-only, handle-included, and vlogging-bundle options, but says prices vary by country and package.
