Neither host is the universal winner. InterServer is the stronger candidate if a lower ongoing bill and its published price-lock approach matter most. SiteGround is a better fit for many WordPress owners who value a more managed workflow, daily backups and reported staging tools—and can budget for much higher renewals. Compare the renewal invoice and plan limits, not just the introductory offer: published prices differ by source, offer and term.
How do the prices compare?
The available figures are not directly interchangeable. InterServer’s own comparison page lists several billing terms, while independent comparisons report introductory offers and renewals that may reflect different terms or promotions. Treat these as dated reference points, not guaranteed checkout prices.

What does each host include?
InterServer: broad shared-hosting claims and a stated price lock
InterServer’s own comparison page promotes a price-lock guarantee, LiteSpeed, 381 application installs, unlimited storage and an upgrade path from shared hosting to VPS or dedicated hosting. These are provider-published claims, not independent tests; check the current plan terms for resource limits and whether the price-lock language applies to your selected signup.
#1 Best Overall
HostingSift’s 2026 comparison describes InterServer Standard as including unlimited storage, bandwidth and websites, free migration, 24/7 phone, chat and ticket support, and weekly backups. It also reports no free domain, a single US data-center location and an interface it considers dated. These details are HostingSift’s account of the plan, so verify them with InterServer before relying on a particular inclusion.
SiteGround: WordPress-oriented tiers with daily backups
TechRadar’s 2026 comparison lists one website on StartUp and unlimited websites on GrowBig and GoGeek. It reports visit guidance of 10,000, 100,000 and 400,000 visits for those tiers, respectively, and daily backups across all three. Visit guidance is not a guarantee of performance or a substitute for checking the plan’s resource policy.
HostingSift reports that SiteGround uses Google Cloud infrastructure and includes SSD storage, free SSL and CDN, daily backups and 24/7 support, with storage limits ranging from 10 to 100 GB. It also reports that the hosting range it reviewed did not include VPS or dedicated plans. Confirm current storage, backup and restoration terms, support access and available products directly with SiteGround.

Which host is a better fit for your site?
Choose InterServer when price predictability is the priority
- InterServer is worth considering for a small or growing site if the actual plan resource policy suits its workload and the lower reported ongoing price matters more than a managed WordPress feature set.
- Its stated price-lock position and shared-to-VPS-or-dedicated upgrade path may appeal if you want to stay with one provider as requirements change. Verify the lock’s current terms for your signup.
- HostingSift reports a single US data-center location for InterServer shared hosting. If visitor geography matters, confirm the current location and assess whether it fits your audience.
Choose SiteGround when managed WordPress features justify the renewal
- SiteGround is the stronger candidate if you value the reported daily backups and WordPress-oriented workflow, and your renewal budget can absorb the higher ongoing prices.
- Check the selected tier’s site allowance, storage, backup schedule and restore terms, support level, and any staging or other tools you specifically need. Availability and limits can vary by plan.
- HostingSift describes SiteGround as using Google Cloud infrastructure. Confirm current server geography rather than assuming that infrastructure alone places a site near its visitors.
What should you compare before paying?
Make the comparison on equivalent billing periods and workloads. Record the terms that change the real cost and day-to-day fit:
Rank #3
- First invoice, renewal invoice, contract term and any conditions on the advertised rate
- Number of websites, storage and resource limits, including how the provider defines “unlimited”
- Backup frequency, retention and restoration terms
- Whether email, migration help and the support channels you need are included
- Data-center location and the refund conditions for the selected plan
Is either host faster or more reliable?
The cited comparisons do not establish a performance winner between these two providers. TechRadar’s described SiteGround testing compares SiteGround with another host, not InterServer. InterServer’s comparison page is provider-authored, not a matched independent speed or uptime test. Do not infer that one will be faster or more reliable from feature lists, infrastructure descriptions or a price comparison alone.
