For the entry plans listed by each provider, DreamHost Launch costs slightly less upfront and has a lower listed renewal rate than SiteGround StartUp. DreamHost also lists more websites, storage, and monthly visits for Launch. Those figures are provider claims—not independent capacity tests—so the better choice depends on your site count, needs, and budget after the introductory term.
How do the entry plans compare?
The following figures are from the providers’ current plan listings retrieved in 2026. Prices and terms can vary by region, tax, and selected billing period; check the checkout total before buying.

| Plan | Introductory price and term | Listed renewal price | Sites | Storage | Traffic guidance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DreamHost Launch | $2.89/month for the first year | $10.99/month after one year | 25 websites | 25 GB NVMe SSD | 40,000 monthly visits |
| SiteGround StartUp | $2.99/month promotional price; 12-month prepaid term | $17.99/month | One website | 10 GB | Approximately 10,000 visits/month |
Both pages list daily automated backups. DreamHost Launch also lists unmetered bandwidth, SSL certificates, three months of email, a domain free for one year, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. SiteGround’s listed higher tiers are GrowBig at $4.99/month promotional and $29.99/month renewal, with 50 GB and multi-site hosting, and GoGeek at $7.99/month promotional and $44.99/month renewal, with 100 GB and multi-site hosting. Confirm the term attached to any offer and the exact renewal terms during checkout.

The advertised monthly rate is not the whole cost. DreamHost says the full term plus taxes is charged at checkout; its hosting plans page states, “Promotional pricing applies to your first term, and every DreamHost plan card shows the exact renewal rate right next to the promo price.” SiteGround’s StartUp listing pairs its $2.99/month promotion with a 12-month prepaid term and a $17.99/month renewal rate.

Compare what you will actually pay for the first prepaid period and what the plan costs when it renews. If you expect to keep the site for several years, the renewal amount may matter more than the small difference between these introductory rates. Prices are volatile, so verify your region, term, taxes, and checkout total on each provider’s current offer.
How much site capacity do the listed plans claim?
For the two entry plans, DreamHost lists 25 websites, 25 GB NVMe SSD, and 40,000 monthly visits for Launch. SiteGround lists one website and 10 GB storage for StartUp, along with an approximate suitability figure of 10,000 visits per month. These are vendor-stated plan figures, not independently measured capacity guarantees. Actual resource needs depend on the site and its traffic; use the figures as plan guidance rather than a promise that a site will sustain that many visits.
If you need multiple sites on SiteGround, compare GrowBig or GoGeek with the DreamHost plan you are considering. The entry-plan comparison alone does not establish which higher tier is equivalent for your needs.
What should you check about backups and included services?
Both providers list daily backups for these plans. A frequency label does not tell you everything needed to judge recoverability, so check the plan-specific terms for retention, how restores work, and whether any restore limits or charges apply before migrating.

DreamHost Launch lists three months of email and a domain free for one year, as well as SSL certificates and unmetered bandwidth. The listed StartUp details here establish its site allowance, storage, visit guidance, and daily backups; compare the live plan page for the specific email, domain, SSL, and migration terms you need. Do not assume an inclusion carries over to every plan or renews on the same terms.

Choose DreamHost Launch if its listed allowance matches your needs
Launch is the more attractive of these two entry listings if you want the lower stated renewal rate, need several websites on the entry plan, or value its listed 25 GB storage and 40,000-visit guidance. Check the full first-term charge and confirm that its email and domain offers fit your plans.
Rank #4
Consider SiteGround StartUp if one site is enough
StartUp may fit a single-site project whose storage and traffic needs align with its stated 10 GB and approximate 10,000-visit guidance. Budget for its listed $17.99/month renewal after the 12-month prepaid term. If you need multiple sites, review GrowBig or GoGeek rather than treating StartUp as a multi-site plan.

The cited plan pages do not establish a performance, uptime, support-response, or customer-satisfaction winner. They are provider documentation, not matched independent tests. If speed, availability, or support is decisive, seek comparable evidence for the configuration and region you plan to use.

What to verify before signing up
- Compare the checkout total for the exact billing term, including taxes, with the renewal rate.
- Confirm the site count and storage on the exact plan; move up a tier if the entry allowance is insufficient.
- Treat monthly visit figures as provider guidance, not guarantees of capacity.
- Check backup retention and restore procedures, plus email, domain, SSL, and migration terms.
- Match the plan to your CMS and WordPress requirements rather than assuming the entry plans are interchangeable.
