SiteGround Review 2026: Plans & Prices from $2.99/mo

SiteGround starts at $2.99/month but renews at $17.99 to $44.99. Here is what each plan includes, what testing shows and who it suits.

SiteGround’s shared hosting starts at $2.99/month, but that is a first-term promotional rate. StartUp renews at $17.99/month, GrowBig at $29.99 and GoGeek at $44.99. The deal makes sense if you want managed WordPress tools and have budgeted for the renewal bill. It is a poor fit if the intro price is your only reason to buy.

SiteGround plans and prices

The official SiteGround shared hosting page lists these U.S.-dollar monthly rates. The intro rates require a 12-month prepayment, and all prices exclude VAT.

Plan Intro price Renewal price Sites and storage Tier-specific features
StartUp $2.99/mo $17.99/mo 1 website; 10 GB Core hosting and WordPress features
GrowBig $4.99/mo $29.99/mo Unlimited websites; 50 GB On-demand backups, staging, advertised 30% faster PHP
GoGeek $7.99/mo $44.99/mo Unlimited websites; 100 GB Git, private DNS, white-label access, priority support

All three tiers list a free domain, SSL, CDN, backups, email, AI tokens, caching, enhanced security, collaborators, website-builder features, site migration, managed WordPress autoupdates, WP-CLI and SSH. Promotions, taxes, cart totals and availability can vary by time and location, so check your own checkout before paying.

What you will actually pay

The jump at renewal is large. StartUp’s first 12 months come to $35.88 at the advertised monthly rate. A renewal year at $17.99/month is $215.88. Both figures are our arithmetic from the listed monthly prices, not totals SiteGround quotes, and both exclude VAT. The same pattern applies to the other tiers: GrowBig goes from $4.99 to $29.99 a month, and GoGeek from $7.99 to $44.99.

If your site will live for several years, judge the plan by the renewal rate. Compare the multi-year total with other hosts before you commit.

Which plan fits which buyer

StartUp

This suits one small website that fits in 10 GB. Note that it is the only tier limited to a single site.

GrowBig

This is the first tier with unlimited websites, 50 GB and staging. Staging lets you test changes before they go live. Choose it if you run several sites or edit a live site often.

GoGeek

This is the only listed tier with Git, private DNS, white-label access and priority support, plus 100 GB. It is aimed at developers and agencies. Storage, not the “unlimited websites” label, is the real ceiling for media-heavy sites.

What independent testing shows

TechRadar’s review (published November 2025) reports that its monitoring checked a test site every five minutes for 14 days and recorded 100% uptime. It also reports a 0.207-second average response time and a 0.735-second Largest Contentful Paint. These are one reviewer’s results on a shared-hosting test site over one period. They are not a guarantee for your account, and TechRadar notes they say nothing about VPS or dedicated hosting.

The same review found problems. Its WordPress migration plugin attempts failed repeatedly with a small WooCommerce site. A support representative did answer promptly once the reviewer had navigated the support flow. Treat these as caveats, not a pass/fail score. If you plan to migrate an existing store, ask support to handle the move.

TechRadar also describes a 99.9% network uptime guarantee and refund-policy distinctions. Confirm the current contract wording before relying on either.

A 2026 HostDecider review is desk research. It says it did not buy a plan or run its own speed, uptime, migration, backup-restore or support tests. It is useful for a dated plan snapshot, not as hands-on evidence.

Checklist before you buy

  • Renewal affordability: can you pay the renewal rate after the prepaid first year?
  • Site count: do you need more than one website?
  • Storage: will media and backups stay within 10, 50 or 100 GB?
  • Workflow: do you need staging (GrowBig and up) or Git (GoGeek only)?
  • Migration: are you moving an existing site? Plan for support-assisted migration rather than relying on the plugin.
  • Tax: add VAT where it applies to you.

The Bottom Line

SiteGround is a conditional recommendation. It suits buyers who want bundled managed WordPress tools, email and backups and who accept the renewal prices. If you want the lowest long-term bill, the $2.99 headline should not decide it.
