Is Prime Video included with Amazon Prime?
Yes. Amazon’s Prime benefits page says: “Prime Video is just one of the savings, convenience, and entertainment benefits included with a Prime membership.” You are paying for a bundle that also includes Amazon’s other Prime benefits. How much of the bundle you use decides how much of the fee is really a streaming cost.

Monthly or annual Prime billing
Paying monthly costs $14.99 × 12 = $179.88 a year. The $139 annual plan saves $40.88, about 23%, but you pay the full amount upfront. Monthly billing costs more overall, but it lets you pay only for the months you want and leaves less money tied up.
What Prime Video Ultra adds
Amazon’s ad-free option is now called Prime Video Ultra. It is an extra subscription on top of Prime, not a replacement for it. The annual price of $45.99 is offered to customers on an annual Prime plan. Twelve months at $4.99 would be $59.88, so the annual plan saves about $13.89.

What “ad-free” covers
Amazon says the add-on covers “most Prime Video movies and TV shows without advertising interruptions.” Some content still has ads:
- live TV and sports events
- free ad-supported programming, which the detail page may label “watch with ads” or “with ads”
- add-on channel subscriptions
- skippable promotional trailers
Treat Ultra as ad-free for most on-demand films and series, not for everything on the service.

Going fully annual saves $54.77 a year compared with paying for both monthly. The Prime Access row is my own arithmetic from Amazon’s listed prices. Whether you can add monthly Ultra to a Prime Access plan is not stated in the sources checked, so confirm it at checkout.
The standalone video-only plan
A 2026 Tom’s Guide price roundup reports an $8.99 monthly ad-supported Prime Video plan for US users who do not have Prime. The Amazon pages checked did not confirm it, so treat it as reported pricing and look for it in Amazon’s signup flow. If it is available to you, it is only worth considering if you would never use Prime’s other benefits. At $8.99 it costs about $3.42 less per month than the $14.99 monthly Prime price, and it is not the same product as Prime.

Channel add-ons cost extra
Prime Video add-ons are paid subscriptions to third-party premium networks and other channels. You pay only for the ones you pick, and Amazon says you can cancel at any time. Most offer a free trial where applicable. These fees recur on top of Prime and Ultra, and add-on content still carries ads under Amazon’s ad-free terms. Add up any channels you keep before comparing plans.

- You use Prime’s shipping and other benefits anyway: annual Prime makes Prime Video close to a free extra. Add Ultra only if ads bother you.
- You want streaming only, with ads: check whether the reported $8.99 plan is offered to you, and compare it with $14.99 monthly Prime.
- You watch mostly on-demand films and series and hate interruptions: Ultra is the relevant upgrade. Annual billing is the cheaper route if you are already on annual Prime.
- You mainly watch live sports or channel content: Ultra will not remove those ads, so it is probably not worth paying for.
- You qualify for Prime Access: $6.99 a month is the lowest Prime price listed.
No plan is best for everyone. Taxes, trial eligibility and plan availability vary, so check your own account at checkout before subscribing.
