Apple says the feature is available in the EU on supported Macs and Apple Vision Pro when the Apple Account region is set to the EU and both the device and Siri are set to English. Apple has not announced a date for EU iPhone or iPad access. The restriction applies to Siri AI, not the entire Apple Intelligence feature set.
Which Apple devices can use Siri AI in the EU?
Apple’s support page, updated September 22, 2026, sets out different availability by platform. A compatible device does not override the EU restriction on iOS, iPadOS or watchOS.

These regional conditions and platform limits are listed in Apple’s Siri AI availability guidance. Apple says an already activated feature continues to work when traveling to other regions; that does not establish a region-switch workaround for an EU iPhone.

Compatible devices still matter
Where the platform is eligible, Apple lists iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models and later, and iPhone Air; iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPads with M1 or later; MacBook Neo (A18 Pro) and Macs with M1 or later; Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Ultra 2 or later, and SE 3 paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone that has Siri AI enabled; and any Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 27. Platform, region and language requirements still apply.

Is Apple Intelligence available in Europe?
Yes. The EU restriction described above is specific to Siri AI on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, not a blanket block on Apple Intelligence. Apple says other next-generation Apple Intelligence features across apps—including advanced photo editing, an updated Image Playground and intelligent browsing features—are available to EU users on supported iPhones and iPads with iOS 27 or iPadOS 27, supported Macs with macOS 27, and Vision Pro with visionOS 27. Why is Siri AI not available on EU iPhones?
Apple says its rollout decision is tied to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and disagreement over interoperability requirements. That is Apple’s explanation, not a final legal determination that the DMA prevents a launch.

Apple’s position
In a June 8, 2026 statement, Apple said regulators had not accepted its proposals for introducing Siri AI while safely supporting other virtual assistants. Apple argued that interoperability requirements would give third-party assistants access to personal data and app controls, creating privacy and security risks. It said it proposed a “Trusted System Agent” intermediary and a gradual 18-month rollout, but could not provide an EU iOS or iPadOS timetable. These are Apple’s claims about the risks and proposals, not independently established findings. The statement is in Apple’s June 2026 newsroom post.
The European Commission’s position
The Commission says the DMA does not prohibit Apple from introducing new products or services in the EU; the rollout decision belongs to Apple, which must make it compliant with the law. For this case, the Commission says compliance means providing third parties access to features equivalent to those Apple gives its own products, subject to user consent. The disagreement is therefore about how a launch should meet interoperability requirements and what safeguards are needed. The Commission’s position is that the law does not itself bar a launch; Apple has not announced a launch date for EU iPhones or iPads.
What does the EU miss without Siri AI on iPhone?
Apple’s June statement said EU iPhone and iPad users would initially miss several features announced for its new software, including a standalone app for revisiting conversations, expanded Visual Intelligence, integrated writing tools, a Siri mode in the Camera app and other Siri AI capabilities. It also said Siri AI-dependent watchOS features would initially be unavailable because they require a paired iPhone running Siri AI.

Apple’s current support page describes Siri AI capabilities such as broad world knowledge; personal context across Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes and Reminders; on-screen awareness; actions across apps; a conversation-history app synced via iCloud; Write with Siri; Visual Intelligence; and expressive voices on devices with the advanced on-device model. These are feature descriptions, not a guarantee that every capability works on every eligible device or in every region. Apple currently lists English for Siri AI; its September newsroom announcement said French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish support was coming the following month. When will Siri AI come to EU iPhones?
There is no announced date in Apple’s June 2026 statement or its September 22, 2026 support guidance. Apple said it could not provide a timetable, and its current page still lists the EU iOS and iPadOS exclusion. A software-version release date does not establish when—or whether—a separate regional rollout will happen.

Does changing your iPhone region unlock Siri AI?
Apple’s support page explicitly says Siri AI is unavailable to EU residents on iOS. It does not describe changing an iPhone’s region, language or Apple Account as a way around that restriction. A Mac or Vision Pro may provide access under the EU account-region and English-language conditions, but using Siri AI on another device does not enable it on the iPhone.
