To keep images and fonts in a SingleFileZ offline copy, enable image embedding, make sure the Network settings do not block images or fonts, and leave “remove unused fonts” and “remove alternative fonts” off. For images at their original dimensions, keep the image reduction factor at 1. Wait for the page to finish loading before saving. These settings favor retention over smaller files and faster processing.
How SingleFileZ stores a saved page
SingleFileZ is a Firefox add-on that saves a page as a single HTML file that is also a ZIP archive containing page resources, according to its Mozilla Add-ons listing. That format can package resources such as images and fonts with the page rather than relying on the original site to serve them later.

Enable embedding and allow image downloads
In the add-on options, enable the image-embedding checkbox. Also check the Network options and make sure images are not blocked. The options interface exposes both image embedding and network-level image blocking; embedding cannot retain an image that the save process never fetches.

Keep the reduction factor at 1 for original dimensions
The related SingleFile help text says the image reduction factor defaults to 1, which leaves dimensions unchanged. A factor of 2 halves image dimensions; 4 reduces them to one quarter. The documented behavior applies to PNG, JPEG, and WEBP images. Larger factors can reduce the saved file size, but smaller dimensions can make images look worse, especially when enlarged or viewed on a high-resolution display.
Understand the quality control
The help text describes a quality setting from 0 to 1, with a default of 0.8, for resized JPEG and WEBP images. It does not affect PNG images or images saved at reduction factor 1. A lower value can further reduce file size at the cost of sharpness; a value of 1 saves WEBP without loss, according to that help text. For a retention-first save with factor 1, changing this setting does not improve the image dimensions.

Choose whether to keep alternate image versions
The options include “remove alternative images.” Leave it off if you want to preserve alternate-resolution variants. Turning it on may make a save smaller by discarding alternatives, but it is a size optimization rather than a maximum-retention choice.

Do not block fonts
In Network options, ensure fonts are not blocked. A font that is not fetched cannot be embedded with the saved page.

Leave font-removal options off when completeness matters
The options interface includes “remove unused fonts” and “remove alternative fonts.” Leave both off when you want to retain potentially relevant fonts. SingleFile help explains that unused-font removal removes font CSS rules that do not match the content, while alternative-font removal removes fonts described as alternatives to those used. Those controls can help reduce file size, but may remove resources you would prefer to keep.
Test pages that rely on unusual or remote fonts
Save a test copy of a page whose typography matters and open it in the intended offline browser. Fonts can depend on remote resources or page-specific CSS, and the available documentation does not establish that every site’s font setup will survive identically in every browser.

Completeness versus file size and processing time
Retention-first settings can produce larger files and take longer to process. The SingleFile FAQ says its defaults are optimized for smaller saved pages and that this optimization can considerably slow processing. It also warns that disabling resource-related handling can leave resources such as images or frames missing. For a more complete copy, keep image and font fetching enabled and allow processing to finish, rather than disabling resource handling to save time.

Save the page and check the result
- Open the page and wait for its images and fonts to finish loading.
- Review the add-on options: enable image embedding, leave image and font blocking off, and use reduction factor 1 if original image dimensions matter.
- Leave font-removal and alternative-image removal options off when retention matters more than file size.
- Click the SingleFileZ toolbar button and allow processing to complete.
- Open the saved HTML file in the browser you expect to use offline. Check pages with important images or unusual fonts before relying on the archive.
The SingleFileZ add-on listing advises waiting for the page to finish loading before clicking the toolbar button. It also says clicking the button again cancels processing; avoid clicking it a second time unless you intend to cancel.
Troubleshooting missing images or fonts
Images are absent from the saved page
- Confirm image embedding is enabled.
- Check that Network options do not block images.
- Wait for the page to finish loading before starting the save, then create a new copy.
- If processing was interrupted, save again and let it finish.
Fonts look different offline
- Check that Network options do not block fonts.
- Turn off “remove unused fonts” and “remove alternative fonts,” then save a fresh copy.
- Test the saved page in the browser intended for offline viewing; font rendering may vary with site CSS and browser behavior.
The file is too large or saving takes too long
- Increase the image reduction factor if smaller image dimensions are acceptable.
- Consider removing alternative images or fonts, understanding that these choices can discard resources.
- Expect retention-oriented saves to take longer than saves optimized for smaller output.
Dynamic content is missing
Missing script-generated content is a separate issue from image or font embedding. SingleFile’s FAQ says scripts are removed by default because they can alter rendering and are not guaranteed to work offline. Retaining scripts involves separate Network and content options and does not guarantee that the page will behave offline as it did online.
