What is the difference between SingleFile and Print to PDF?
| Need | SingleFile | Print to PDF |
|---|---|---|
| Output | A single HTML file that includes page resources such as images, stylesheets, fonts, and frames, according to the SingleFile project. | A paginated PDF produced from the browser’s print preview. |
| Useful for | Keeping a browser-style reference to view offline. | Filing, sharing, or printing a document. |
| What to check | Open the HTML file offline and confirm the notice content appears as expected. | Open the PDF and check page breaks, readability, and whether relevant content is missing. |
SingleFile’s site says its saved page can be displayed offline in a browser without the extension. That is the project’s description, not an independent guarantee that every resource or interactive feature on every exam portal will be preserved.

First check whether the notification is already a PDF
If the recruiting body provides the notice itself as a PDF, download that file rather than printing the surrounding webpage to create another copy. For example, UPSC hosts Examination Notice No. 02/2025 ENGG as a PDF. This is one example, not evidence that every authority publishes notices the same way.
Keep the source URL, notice title, date, and examination name with the downloaded file. A saved document or webpage is a snapshot, not proof that the notice is still current. Check the authority’s latest notice page for updates or corrigenda before acting on dates, eligibility rules, or other requirements.

How to save a notification webpage with SingleFile
- Open the official exam notification webpage in a browser supported by the current SingleFile release. The project lists Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari; confirm current browser support and extension availability on the official SingleFile site.
- Use the SingleFile extension’s save action for the page. Its available controls and options can change, so follow the current extension interface.
- Save the resulting HTML file with a useful name, such as the exam name and notice date.
- Disconnect from the network or otherwise test the file offline. Check the notice heading, dates, eligibility text, tables, images, and any references you need.
Choose this route when retaining a webpage-like reference matters more than having a print-ready document. Do not assume that scripts, dynamic content, interactive forms, or every external resource will work in the saved file.
How to print a notification webpage to PDF in Chrome

- In the print preview, choose a PDF destination such as Save as PDF where offered, then review the available print settings.
- Save the PDF and open it to inspect the page breaks, legibility, and notice content.
Google’s Chrome Help for printing from Chrome documents the desktop print workflow and saving print output as PDF. Exact labels and available controls can vary by browser version and operating system.

Chrome’s Save page as workflow is separate from printing a webpage to PDF. Google also documents how to download a file or save a linked PDF. If the authority links directly to the original notification PDF, use that link to download the document itself rather than converting the webpage around it.

Which method should you use?
- Choose the official PDF when the notification is already published as a PDF and you need the document itself.
- Choose SingleFile when you want a browser-viewable offline snapshot of the webpage and its resources.
- Choose Print to PDF when you want a paginated, portable copy for filing or printing.
- Keep both only when they serve different purposes: for example, the official PDF for the notice and a SingleFile snapshot for the page context. Label each file so you can tell which is authoritative.
Verify the saved copy before relying on it
- Confirm the examination name, notice title, and issue date against the authority’s page.
- Check dates, eligibility text, fee details, and other information that affects an application.
- For a PDF, inspect page breaks, small text, tables, and any content that may have been clipped in print preview.
- For SingleFile, open the HTML file offline and inspect the relevant content and appearance.
- Check the authority’s current notice page again for corrections, extensions, or replacement notices.
These are practical checks, not claims that either method has been independently tested across Indian examination portals. The cited sources do not establish that one method preserves all sites or that a saved copy has a particular legal status.

For a screenshot of a webpage rather than an HTML archive or PDF, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API. Its clean-shot steps accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status. ScreenshotNeo also has an MCP server with screenshot and page-information tools for AI agents.
