To get unstuck in Silent Hill: Townfall, treat each puzzle as part of its surroundings: identify what the obstacle asks you to do, search nearby rooms for related clues, read documents closely, and use the CRTV to find and inspect signals. If a code seems right but a lock will not accept it, check that you have collected the clue item tied to it.
This spoiler-light guide draws on official descriptions and published post-launch coverage, not personal testing. Townfall released September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, according to Konami’s announcement.

Why the clues are tied to the world
The puzzles are not designed as detached code-breaking exercises. Jon McKellan, writer and director at Screen Burn Interactive, said puzzles were designed alongside the story and grounded in the town and its inhabitants. The PlayStation developer post describes them as a way to reveal information as well as move the story forward.

That framing suggests a useful approach: consider how a note, object, location, or broadcast might relate to the obstacle in front of you. A clue may require connecting details rather than copying one answer from one object.

- Day One Edition Bonus: CRTV Style: Rusted, CRTV Style: Beach Edition
- Returning to an island town to ‘put things right’, Simon Ordell descends into a world of tense evasion, explosive confrontations, and mind-bending puzzles that slowly surface the truth of St. Amelia
- Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right’, encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest
- Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface
- Experienced entirely in first person, Simon must explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including the CRTV, a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged
How to get unstuck without spoiling the answer
1. Name what the obstacle requires
Before searching, identify the task: does it ask for a code, a sequence, an object, a signal, or a mechanism to operate? That narrows what to look for. Search the room and adjoining spaces for relevant details, but do not assume every answer is immediately nearby.
2. Read documents for usable details
Look for names, dates, numbers, instructions, and relationships between people or places. Keep a short note of potentially relevant details rather than relying on memory. A PC Gamer review describes codes being assembled from nearby letters and documents; other puzzles may require more inference, so treat notes as pieces of a clue rather than guaranteed answer keys.

- Day One Edition Bonus: CRTV Style: Rusted, CRTV Style: Beach Edition
- When Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to "put things in order", he meets a city lying quietly in dense fog, seemingly abandoned, yet anything but dormant
- After venturing further to understand his connection to this place and its inhabitants, he gradually discovers fragments of the past rising to the surface
- Simon must explore, evade and survive from a first-person perspective. It uses a limited arsenal of weapons and tools, including the CRTV: a portable TV to receive unstable signals
- The dodging is tension, the battles are hectic and the story-based puzzles reveal a truth that does not want to remain hidden
3. Search for connections, not just matching numbers
Compare what you read with environmental details and CRTV signals. A date in a document, for example, may matter because of a nearby object or location rather than because it is itself the code. The published GameSpot walkthrough documents puzzles that draw on collected clues and items. Use that kind of connection as a hint, without jumping straight to a full solution.

If a lock or terminal rejects a seemingly correct answer, verify that you have actually picked up the associated note, clue, or key item. The GameSpot walkthrough reports that some locks and terminals require the related clue item even if the player already knows the answer. Recheck the area for anything you inspected but did not collect.
How to use the CRTV for clues
The CRTV is more than a threat-detection device. According to the PlayStation developer post, it receives signals from around town and can help Simon with challenges. Raise and tune it when entering a new area or approaching a puzzle, and pay attention to transmissions that seem connected to your surroundings.
Align and store a signal
When a transmission requires tuning, follow the on-screen prompt and align the colored shapes with their corresponding outlines and lines. VICE’s CRTV guide reports that successful alignment lets you store the signal for a hint.

Inspect the stored image
A stored signal may include a brief visual vignette. Pause over the image and look for a location, poster, or other environmental detail that could point toward your next step. The VICE guide describes these visuals as useful clues; they may direct your attention rather than spell out a solution.

When to look up a full solution
If you have searched, compared notes, checked the CRTV, and confirmed that you collected the relevant item, a walkthrough can help. Published guides cover solutions throughout the game, including the GameSpot walkthrough. For a spoiler-light run, search only for the current puzzle or location and stop reading as soon as you have the hint you need.
