Spoilers: The North Brae House solution reveals the black-box code and the next locker code. At 6 North Brae, collect the Lamenting Poem upstairs, count boats, arches and children in the house pictures, then enter 736. Take the barcode it gives you to the CEG Employee Lockers and use 971 at Locker 204 to collect a Mechanical Part.
How to solve the Lamenting Poem puzzle
- Enter 6 North Brae. The house is in Clara Woods Estate. The independent walkthrough places it in Part 4, Chapter 10, and says to reach the back entrance after cutting the gate with Boltcutters; the front door is locked. Townfall.site’s walkthrough provides these route details.
- Pick up the poem before using the box. Go upstairs to the second bedroom and take the Lamenting Poem from the chair. The black box is on the desk in the same room. The walkthrough reports that the box will not accept the code until you have collected the poem.
- Count the subjects named in the poem. Its highlighted words give both the picture subjects and their order: boats, arches, then children. Count those subjects in the house pictures: 7 boats, 3 arches and 6 children. The children appear across several framed photographs.
- Enter the three counts in order. The black-box code is 736. Opening it gives you a barcode.
- Use the barcode at CEG. Go to the CEG Employee Lockers and scan the barcode. Enter 971 at Locker 204 to open it and take the Mechanical Part.
Why the code is 736
The poem is a counting clue, not a cipher that needs a separate key: each highlighted word points to a category in the pictures. Keeping the poem’s order matters. Boats come first (7), arches second (3), and children third (6), producing 736. If the box does not accept it, first make sure you picked up the poem in the upstairs bedroom.

What to do with the barcode
The barcode is not the final reward or another number to decode at the house. Carry it to the CEG Employee Lockers, scan it there, and then enter 971 on Locker 204. The locker contains the Mechanical Part needed for progression.

How firmly are these codes confirmed?
The codes and steps above are reported by independent walkthrough coverage, including Townfall.site’s Lamenting Poem guide. A separate Silent Townfall guide archive identifies the 6 North Brae poem-and-paintings puzzle, and the Townfall puzzle index also lists 736. These sources are not an official code sheet: Annapurna Interactive’s official game page describes the game and its narrative-driven puzzles but does not publish this solution.
