Sikich and Datarails announced a partnership on September 30, 2026, to help organizations in life sciences, insurance and legal services connect ERP data with financial planning and reporting workflows. The proposal is to keep ERP systems as systems of record and let finance teams continue working with Excel while using Datarails for planning and analysis. The announcement describes an intended offering, not a named customer deployment or proven result.
What Sikich and Datarails announced
The partnership pairs Sikich’s industry, technology and advisory experience with Datarails’ FP&A offering. Sikich describes itself as having approximately 2,500 team members in the September 30, 2026 announcement. The companies name life sciences, insurance and legal services as intended sectors, where they say organizations may face multi-entity and multi-currency operations, frequent reforecasting and complex analysis. These are the partners’ stated target needs, not independent findings about every organization in those industries. Sikich’s announcement

How the proposed ERP-to-planning workflow is meant to work
The partners position ERP software as the continuing system of record, with Datarails supporting connected planning and reporting around the data held in those systems. NetSuite is one named example in the announcement; its mention does not establish exclusive compatibility or confirm that every NetSuite configuration is supported. Datarails says its product connects ERP and other business systems to Excel-based financial models. The actual connector and configuration needed for a particular environment should be confirmed with the vendors. Datarails FP&A product information

The stated work spans consolidation, refreshed data, variance explanations, forecasting, scenario analysis, and management or board reporting. Datarails’ product page also lists financial consolidation and close, budgeting and AI-powered variance commentary. These are vendor-described functions; neither the product page nor partnership announcement independently validates their performance in a customer’s environment.
Can finance teams keep using Excel?
Yes, that is central to the proposed workflow. Sikich and Datarails describe Excel as an existing finance workflow to retain rather than displace, and Datarails presents its FP&A platform as working with existing Excel models. Whether a team’s particular models, formulas, processes and controls fit the implementation is not specified in the announcement and needs to be checked directly.

Datarails says its platform integrates with more than 600 ERP, accounting, CRM, bank and HRIS systems, and lists NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle and SAP as ERP examples. The figure and examples are vendor-published, not an independent compatibility audit; they do not confirm a particular connector, region, configuration or implementation. The product page also says more than 2,000 finance teams use Datarails, a vendor-reported figure rather than an independently verified count. Datarails FP&A product information

Datarails’ support documentation, updated March 18, 2026, describes FinanceOS AI interaction through Model Context Protocol (MCP), OAuth 2.0 authentication, permission-based access and audit logging. It says the AI has read-only access to financial data and can query, analyze and export information, but cannot write back to an account. These are Datarails’ descriptions of its controls, not the findings of an independent security audit. Organizations assessing the product should validate the controls and configuration against their own security, access and compliance requirements. Datarails FinanceOS AI support documentation

The announcement does not provide enough detail to assess commercial fit or compare Datarails with alternatives. Before making a decision, a finance and technology team would need to establish:
- Whether the required ERP connector and data configuration are supported for its specific deployment.
- Whether existing Excel models and workflows can be retained as intended, including the work needed to connect and govern them.
- How consolidation, multi-entity and multi-currency planning, and the organization’s reforecast cadence would be handled.
- How permissions, audit logging and read/write boundaries would work in the proposed configuration.
- What implementation effort, timeline and pricing Sikich and Datarails would propose.
- Whether customer references or independently documented outcomes support the expected benefits.
The September 30, 2026 announcement supplies no pricing, implementation schedule, customer results or quantified productivity outcomes for this partnership. Datarails invites prospective customers to request a demonstration, while Sikich points to its ERP services; those invitations are not evidence of a deployment or a promised result.
