In Windows 11, open Start > Settings > System > Power & battery and turn on Battery percentage if that option appears. To view battery status, select the Quick Settings area on the taskbar or press Windows key + A.
Turn on the battery percentage in Windows 11
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select System > Power & battery.
- Turn on Battery percentage if the setting is available.
- Select the taskbar’s Quick Settings area—the network, sound, or battery controls—or press Windows key + A to open it and check the battery status. Microsoft documents both ways to open Quick Settings.
The percentage switch may not appear on every device or Windows build. Feature availability can vary, so its absence does not by itself mean the battery gauge is broken.

Find a battery icon that seems to be missing
In current Windows 11 guidance, the battery status control is part of Quick Settings. If you are looking in the taskbar’s system-tray overflow, check Quick Settings as well. Microsoft explains how icons can be moved between the visible taskbar and overflow areas, but that customization does not make the battery control a separate Lenovo-only feature. Lenovo’s Yoga 7 14/15ITL05 user guide describes selecting the battery status icon to see the remaining percentage and power mode. That instruction is specific to the model and guide; other Lenovo models or Windows releases may present the controls differently. Read the Yoga 7 14/15ITL05 user guide.

If your Lenovo laptop runs Windows 10
Windows 10 taskbar controls differ from Windows 11, so older instructions about notification-area or system-icon switches apply only if your laptop is actually using that interface. Microsoft states that Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. Check Microsoft’s current taskbar guidance.
Distinguish the Windows gauge from Lenovo Vantage and the laptop’s light
Windows battery status
The on-screen battery gauge is a Windows control, not a Lenovo-specific hardware feature. Use Quick Settings for battery status, and the percentage setting in Power & battery when it is available.

Lenovo Vantage
Some readers may mean a Vantage battery widget or toolbar when they say “battery gauge.” There is no universal current Vantage toggle path established across Lenovo laptops. Menu names and availability can depend on the model and app version; consult the support information for your specific laptop rather than relying on an older toolbar instruction.

Physical battery indicator
A light on the laptop’s chassis is separate from the Windows gauge. Lenovo says physical indicator location and meaning vary by model; use the model-specific hardware maintenance information to identify it. Lenovo’s battery-indicator guidance describes those model differences.

Troubleshoot the common cases
The percentage option is missing
Check which Windows version and build the laptop is running, then check Windows Update and the laptop’s official support material. The setting’s absence may reflect device or feature availability; the available guidance does not establish one universal Lenovo workaround.
The laptop stops charging below 100%
This may be Smart charging, a battery-protection feature that some manufacturers enable. Microsoft says it can intentionally limit charging below full; a heart on the taskbar battery icon indicates Smart charging. Learn about Smart charging in Windows.

The on-screen gauge is absent
Confirm the Windows version and exact Lenovo model before changing drivers or the registry. The official guidance explains where to find and customize taskbar controls, but does not establish a single repair procedure for every Lenovo laptop with a missing battery control.
