Usually, you can remove Realtek Audio Console if you never use the controls available on your PC. Uninstalling the app through Windows is different from removing your sound device or its driver in Device Manager. If you are troubleshooting faulty audio, address the driver and device rather than assuming the Console app is the cause.
What Realtek Audio Console is—and what it is not
Realtek Audio Console is a software utility, not the audio hardware itself. MSI, for example, describes it as a Universal Windows Platform utility distributed through Microsoft Store; that documentation is specific to MSI and does not establish that every PC has the same app features or installation method. | Choice | Best fit | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Keep Realtek Audio Console | You use a control offered by the version installed on your PC. | Available settings vary by PC configuration; do not assume another model has the same controls. MSI’s support document |
| Remove the app | You do not use it and want to tidy up installed apps. | Use Windows’ normal app-uninstall route, and do not remove the audio device or driver by mistake. Some built-in Windows apps cannot be removed. Microsoft’s app-uninstall guidance |
How to uninstall the app without removing the driver
- Open Windows app settings. Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Windows versions may label or arrange these screens differently.
- Find Realtek Audio Console. Select its menu, then choose Uninstall if that option is available. You can also look for the app in Start, right-click it, and choose Uninstall.
- Keep the audio device and driver intact. Do not use Device Manager to uninstall the audio device or driver if your goal is only to remove the Console app. Microsoft documents app removal and audio-device driver removal as separate operations. App removal; audio-device troubleshooting
Microsoft’s documentation does not guarantee what happens to every OEM’s driver package when the Console app alone is removed. If you depend on app-linked controls or expect to reinstall the software later, check your PC or motherboard maker’s instructions for your exact model.

Removing the Console is not an established fix for a playback or recording problem. Microsoft’s general Windows guidance includes updating or uninstalling the audio device driver, then restarting the PC; Windows may reinstall the driver after the restart. Follow the steps in Microsoft’s audio troubleshooting guide rather than uninstalling the device as an app-cleanup step.
- Check Windows’ audio device and driver troubleshooting steps, including the recommended update or reinstall process.
- Restart the PC if you uninstall the audio device driver, as Microsoft’s instructions direct.
- If Windows cannot find a suitable driver, use the support page for your exact PC or motherboard model. Microsoft advises: “If Windows doesn’t find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer’s website and follow those instructions.” Microsoft’s driver-update guidance
Use the manufacturer’s official support page rather than an unofficial driver-download mirror. Driver packages and instructions can differ across models.
