Is it okay to leave a PS5 game disc in overnight?
Sony’s guidance does not say that a disc left in the console overnight or between ordinary play sessions needs to be removed. Its instruction is to keep the disc inserted whenever you play the disc-based game. This is not a guarantee for every console condition; it means the cited guidance does not call for routine ejection after use. Sony’s disc-game instructions explain that the game installs from the disc and that the disc must remain inserted for play.

When should you take the disc out?
If you will not use a disc for an extended period, eject it normally and put it back in its case. Sony’s PS5 Safety Guide for the CFI-12XXA model family recommends storing discs in their cases when they will not be used for an extended time. It does not specify a number of days or weeks that defines “extended.”
- Keep the disc away from high temperatures, high humidity and direct sunlight.
- Do not stack discs without their cases or store them at an angle; Sony warns that either can cause warping.
How to handle or clean a PS5 game disc
Hold the disc by its edges to help avoid fingerprints on the surface. If it is dirty or scratched, Sony recommends a lint-free cloth made for Blu-ray Discs or DVDs. Wipe from the centre toward the edge, rather than in a circular motion. See Sony’s disc troubleshooting guidance for these handling and cleaning instructions.

What if a disc gets stuck?
Do not pull or yank a stuck disc. Sony’s manual ejection instructions say to turn off the PS5 and disconnect its cables before opening the cover to eject the disc. Follow the steps for your console model; contact PlayStation Repairs if you cannot eject it safely.
