The Sharp AQUOS wish3 is a compact, Japan-market 5G phone for basic use, with a headphone jack, expandable storage and tested water and dust resistance. Its Dimensity 700 chip, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage are dated, and Sharp’s business-device table gives the SIM-free model a planned support end date of June 2026. In 2026, it is worth considering only at a substantial discount, with its exact model, network compatibility and battery condition verified.
What is the Sharp AQUOS wish3?
The AQUOS wish3 is the third entry-level phone in Sharp’s AQUOS wish series. Sharp announced it in Japan in 2023, with the SIM-free SH-M25 scheduled for release from July 21 that year; carrier editions followed. It was designed for everyday communication and straightforward use rather than demanding games or intensive multitasking. Sharp’s launch announcement and SIM-free launch material document the launch and model.
“AQUOS wish3” refers to a family of Japanese-market variants, not one universal configuration. SH-M25 is the SIM-free model; SH-53D is the NTT docomo version. Sharp also lists SoftBank, Y!mobile and Rakuten Mobile editions. Features such as authentication and network behavior can differ, so confirm the model number before buying. See Sharp’s product hub and variant pages for docomo, SoftBank, Y!mobile and Rakuten Mobile.
What are the SH-M25’s main specifications?
These specifications are for Sharp’s SIM-free SH-M25. A carrier version may differ.

Sharp’s SIM-free specification page and SH-M25 brochure provide the detailed figures. The phone has face authentication; some carrier editions add fingerprint authentication. Check the relevant edition’s specifications, such as Sharp’s docomo page or Y!mobile page.
How does it feel to use, and how durable is it?
At 147 mm tall, 70 mm wide and 161 g, the wish3 is small and light compared with many current phones. Its 3.5 mm headphone jack is useful if you prefer wired headphones, and USB-C handles charging. Sharp offers simple home-screen and text options, including Easy Mode, but the 5.7-inch screen may feel cramped if you need enlarged text or a wide on-screen keyboard.
The display is an HD+ LCD, not a high-resolution or high-refresh-rate screen. It is adequate for messaging, browsing and video at ordinary resolutions, but it does not offer the sharpness or smoothness of more modern, higher-tier displays. Sharp’s specifications list the panel resolution.

Sharp lists IPX5 and IPX7 water-resistance ratings, IP6X dust resistance and MIL-STD-810H-related testing that includes drop resistance. These are specified ratings and tests, not a promise that every phone will survive every fall or water accident. Seals can deteriorate with age, impact or repair. Do not charge the phone while wet, and do not treat it as suitable for swimming or prolonged submersion. Sharp’s launch material explicitly cautions that the testing does not guarantee the device will remain undamaged or functional under every impact.
Is the performance enough for everyday use?
The Dimensity 700 and 4 GB of RAM can serve calls, messages, email, web browsing, maps, streaming, social media, contactless payments and light photography. They are an old budget-phone platform by 2026 standards, so demanding games and heavy multitasking are poor fits. With 4 GB of RAM, apps may reload more often when switching between them; buyers seeking sustained speed should choose newer hardware.
The 64 GB internal storage is another constraint. The usable space is lower after Android, preinstalled apps and updates, and photos, video and message attachments consume it quickly. A compatible microSD card can hold photos, video and other files, but not every app can be moved to or fully run from a card. Card capacity is not a backup: keep important files elsewhere, and use a reliable card.

What should you expect from the cameras and battery?
Cameras
The rear camera is approximately 13 MP with an f/2.0 lens, and the front camera is approximately 5 MP with an f/2.2 lens. Sharp lists AI Auto, portrait mode, time-lapse, auto HDR and ProPix4 lite image processing. The hardware is suited to casual daylight snapshots, documents and video calls; it lacks the flexibility of a more capable multi-camera phone. Sharp’s feature list describes the available modes, but it does not establish independently tested image quality. Specifications and the launch announcement list the camera features.
Battery and charging
The battery’s stated capacity is 3,730 mAh, and the SH-M25 supports USB Power Delivery Revision 3.0. Sharp gives an approximately 130-minute charging figure for some variants under specified charger conditions; actual time depends on the adapter, cable, temperature, battery health and phone use while charging. Capacity alone does not establish real-world battery life. A device first released in 2023 may have a worn battery if it has been used heavily or stored poorly, so ask about battery condition when buying used or refurbished. See Sharp’s SIM-free specifications.
Which family and accessibility features does it have?
Sharp positions the wish3 for children, older people and users who prefer simpler controls. Its features include Junior Mode and Junior Home, Google Family Link for parental controls, Easy Mode and Easy Home with larger, bolder text, and Emergency SOS. Sharp says repeated presses of the power key can initiate an emergency call. The phone also supports face authentication, including mask-compatible face recognition according to its specifications. Exact menus and behavior may vary by Android version, carrier software, region and account setup. Check Sharp’s feature page and SH-M25 specifications.

What is the AQUOS wish3’s Android and security status in 2026?
The SH-M25 launched with Android 13. Sharp’s support information lists Android 14 and Android 15 updates, and its SIM-free update record shows a November 5, 2025 security update that brought the patch level to October 2025. Sharp’s Android Enterprise Recommended device table lists June 2026 as the planned support end date for SH-M25. As of August 2026, do not assume that further security patches will arrive: the listed date has passed, and a planned end date is not evidence of updates after it. The manufacturer’s support table, AQUOS wish3 support page and SIM-free update history document the status. Sharp specifies two years of OS version-up support from launch; that is distinct from an assurance of continuing security updates.
Check for an update
- Open the app drawer, then select Settings.
- Open System, then Advanced settings.
- Select System update and follow the on-screen instructions.
Sharp notes that an update may also arrive as a system-update notification. Use stable Wi-Fi, charge the phone, and back up important files before updating.
If an update fails
- Check that there is enough free storage, connect to stable Wi-Fi, and charge the phone or connect it to power.
- Restart the device and retry. Check the software build under Settings → About phone or Device information, as labeled on your version.
- Back up photos, contacts and files before another attempt. Contact Sharp about device support; contact your carrier or MVNO about SIM, plan or network problems.
Sharp’s SIM-free support page lists 050-5846-5418 and hours of 10:00–17:00, except December 31 and January 1. Confirm the current contact details and hours on the support page before calling.

Will it work with your SIM or carrier?
In Japan, the wish3 was offered through docomo, SoftBank, Y!mobile, Rakuten Mobile, Sharp’s SIM-free channel and retailer-specific distribution. The SIM-free launch material lists 5G bands n3, n28, n77, n78 and n79; LTE bands B1, B2, B3, B5, B8, B12, B17, B18, B19, B38, B39 and B41; 3G bands B1, B5 and B8; and GSM at 850, 900, 1,800 and 1,900 MHz. Those are the listed bands for the SIM-free model, not a guarantee that every carrier or regional edition will connect everywhere. Sharp’s launch specifications give the band list.
Outside Japan, carrier-specific firmware, VoLTE requirements, SIM configuration and network approval can affect service. Band overlap alone does not prove compatibility, and Japanese features such as Osaifu-Keitai may not be useful or available elsewhere. Before importing one—especially into the United States—confirm the exact model number with the intended carrier’s current compatibility or IMEI checker. Also check local emergency-calling behavior, warranty and repair options. The reviewed Sharp information does not establish compatibility with a specific U.S. carrier.
Should you buy a wish3, wish4 or wish5?
The main reason to choose the wish3 is a low purchase price paired with its compact size and basic features. It is not the forward-looking choice if a newer model costs only a little more.
| Model | What Sharp’s cited information establishes | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|
| AQUOS wish3 (SH-M25) | Android 13 at launch; Android 14 and Android 15 updates listed; planned support end June 2026 | Consider only if substantially cheaper and its support status is acceptable |
| AQUOS wish4 | Android 14 at launch; Android 15 and Android 16 updates planned; planned support end June 2027 | A more rational same-family option when the price difference is modest |
| AQUOS wish5 | Shown as the newer basic wish model in Sharp’s current lineup; a comparable support end date is not stated on the cited lineup page | Compare its exact variant and support details before purchase |
| AQUOS sense series | Sharp lists sense models including sense9 and sense10 in its current lineup; comparable model-specific support dates are not stated on the cited lineup page | Consider for a higher-tier phone; expect a different price and verify the model’s support terms |
Sharp’s business-device table gives the wish4 support information; its current lineup shows newer wish and sense models. Current wish3 prices and stock are not established by those pages, so compare live offers rather than relying on its original launch price.

Who should buy the AQUOS wish3?
It may suit you if
- You want a small, light phone for calls, messaging and everyday apps.
- You value a headphone jack, microSD expansion, or Japanese-market Osaifu-Keitai.
- Junior or Easy Mode, Family Link, or the listed durability ratings meet a specific need.
- You can confirm the exact model works on your network and the price is meaningfully below a newer phone.
Look elsewhere if
- You need several more years of predictable security updates.
- You play demanding games, multitask heavily or want strong low-light photography.
- You need a sharper display or more than 64 GB of internal storage without relying on a card.
- You are importing it without carrier approval, local warranty or a verified battery condition.
What to check before buying a used or imported unit
- Read the model number in the listing or device information; do not assume all wish3 versions are equivalent.
- Check the intended carrier’s compatibility system for that precise model and confirm any VoLTE or eSIM requirements.
- Ask whether the phone is new, refurbished or used, and request clear information about battery condition, repairs, water exposure and impact damage.
- Check its Android version and security patch date under Settings, then compare them with Sharp’s SIM-free update record.
- Confirm what warranty, returns and repair support apply in your country.
- Estimate whether 64 GB will be enough, and budget for a reliable microSD card only if your files and apps can use it.
- Compare the total price with a wish4, wish5 or another newer budget phone, not just with the wish3’s old launch price.
