The Shark PowerDetect Transformer is a corded upright vacuum that converts into stick and handheld configurations. It offers useful flexibility for floors, stairs and above-floor cleaning, but it is heavy in upright mode, its stick bin is small, and test results show less suction in stick mode than upright mode. T3’s September 2026 headline promises one spot the vacuum did not cover, but its accessible review does not identify that spot, so there is no sound basis for naming one.
What the Shark PowerDetect Transformer is—and what it is not
This is a corded vacuum, not a cordless machine. SharkNinja introduced it on June 30, 2026, as a three-mode system: upright, stick and handheld. The company says it removes the traditional bulky hose and uses its PowerDetect and Reveal technologies; those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent performance findings. SharkNinja’s launch announcement said US sales began at $529, with wider retailer availability to follow.

How the three configurations are intended to work
- Upright: The full-size configuration for routine floor cleaning. T3 describes it as the stronger choice for carpet.
- Stick: A lighter-to-handle configuration for reaching under furniture and cleaning tighter areas, though it has lower measured suction and a much smaller debris bin.
- Handheld: A compact configuration for stairs, cars, furniture and other above-floor jobs. T3 found it useful for controlled cleaning, including car-seat crevices.
The system has separate debris collection: a main bin on the upright and a smaller bin used in stick and handheld configurations. Returning the handheld assembly to the main unit transfers its debris into the main cup, a design T3 describes as convenient. The transfer does not change the smaller bin’s capacity while you are using those modes.
What reviewers found in use
T3 reviewer Bethan Morgan tested the vacuum for three weeks and published her review on September 11, 2026. She found it effective on hardwood and carpet, praised its bright floor illumination and versatility, and reported that handheld mode worked well on stairs. Her reservations were that the vacuum felt heavy in upright mode, was loud, and picked up dust less effectively than she had hoped. She also found the accessories could be difficult to remove at times. These are one reviewer’s observations, not a guarantee that every home or user will get the same results. Read T3’s review.

Vacuum Wars’ evaluation of a US LX5002 found strong results for practical upright pickup, carpet deep cleaning and crevice pickup. Its measurements also show why the modes should not be treated as equivalent: usable suction was 0.53 kPa in upright mode versus 0.20 kPa in stick mode, while airflow measured 64 CFM at the upright head and 43 CFM at the stick wand. These are Vacuum Wars’ evaluation results, not Shark’s official specifications. See Vacuum Wars’ LX5002 review.
TechGearLab’s comparative test table for its LX5002 test unit reported 95% low-pile pickup, 62% high-pile pickup, 92% hardwood pickup and 77% pet-hair pickup, with a noise reading of 76 dBA. Those figures belong to TechGearLab’s test setup; they are not universal household outcomes or manufacturer specifications. The results point to a meaningful floor-type distinction: its high-pile result was lower than the Kenmore Intuition and Eureka QuickShift entries in the five-vacuum comparison, while the Transformer performed particularly well for pet hair among the models listed. The practical tradeoffs to weigh
Weight and corded operation
The upright configuration is the main concern if you need to carry the vacuum between floors or frequently maneuver a full-size machine. T3 lists the UK model at about 8 kg with its main bin. A cord avoids battery-runtime limits, but it also means working within reach of a power outlet and managing the cable as you clean.
Stick mode trades capacity and power for reach
Vacuum Wars measured the stick bin at about 0.4 L, compared with about 1.04 L for the upright bin, and notes that the smaller bin can fill quickly. Alongside its lower stick-mode suction and airflow measurements, that makes the stick configuration better understood as a reach-oriented option than as a like-for-like replacement for upright cleaning.

Carpet height and noise
TechGearLab’s 62% high-pile pickup result was notably below its 95% low-pile and 92% hardwood results. If your home is mostly high-pile carpet, that difference deserves more weight than a strong general claim about pickup. Its 76 dBA reading is likewise specific to that outlet’s test; T3 independently described the vacuum as loud, but did not provide a decibel measurement.
Tools and package contents vary
T3 describes a UK package with multiple tools. Vacuum Wars says the US LX5002 package it purchased included only a crevice tool, while other packages may include pet tools. Check the exact model and box contents for your market before buying; a tool shown in one review or product image may not be included with another regional SKU.

Who should consider it?
- It may suit you if you want one corded system that can switch between a full upright, a reach-oriented stick and a handheld for stairs or vehicles, and your floors are mainly hardwood, low-pile carpet or a mix.
- Look carefully at the tradeoffs if you have extensive high-pile carpet, need a lightweight upright, expect to clean for long stretches in stick mode, or are especially sensitive to noise.
- Compare alternatives on the job you need done. TechGearLab’s comparison includes the Shark Stratos, Eureka QuickShift OmniVerse, Kenmore Intuition and Shark Navigator Lift-Away; T3’s UK review points to the Hoover H-Upright 300 Pets, Gtech AirRAM Platinum and Shark FreeStyle Pro. Compare floor-type results, weight, corded versus cordless operation, pet-hair handling and included attachments for the exact versions available in your market.
What the “one spot” headline does—and does not—establish
T3’s headline reads, “This 3-in-1 vacuum covered my whole house – except this one spot.” The accessible review does not say which spot the headline refers to. It would be misleading to claim that the vacuum missed a particular room, floor type or crevice on that basis. The documented reservations are weight, noise and dust pickup, alongside a substantial performance difference between upright and stick modes in separate testing.
SharkNinja’s launch announcement also claims the vacuum removes “99.99% of dust and allergens,” attributing the figure to ASTM F1977 testing down to 0.3 microns and defining allergens as non-living matter. That is a manufacturer claim about its stated test, not evidence of a health outcome or a promise of equivalent results in every home.
