1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA React SharePoint Framework sample is seeking independent testing in a real SharePoint Online tenant. Its author, Vilius, describes a read-only aid that flags missing or invalid document metadata in a selected library or folder view; the post reports local tests and builds, but no real-tenant validation result. If you can test it, focus on metadata accuracy, scope, permissions, throttling, link safety, keyboard access, and responsive layout, then report findings on the pull request.
What the sample is reported to do
Vilius’s DEV Community post describes a sample intended for the PnP SharePoint Framework webparts repository at samples/react-document-metadata-review/. It is meant to review a bounded document-library or folder view, highlight missing or invalid metadata, and provide links to the source documents for remediation.

The post says the checks cover required text, choice, and taxonomy fields. It also says the sample deliberately performs no create, update, or delete operations. The post attributes permission guidance, configuration details, and tenant-validation steps to the README; those repository materials were not independently reviewed, so confirm their instructions before installing or testing the sample.

The post reports 13 deterministic Jest tests, successful SPFx DEBUG and SHIP builds, and successful production .sppkg packaging. These are the author’s reported local checks; they are not independent verification and do not establish behavior against a live SharePoint Online library, actual tenant permissions, or live taxonomy values. The post provides no result from a real-tenant test.

How to validate it in a tenant
Use a representative library or folder with known metadata, including examples that should pass and fail. Follow the sample’s README and pull-request instructions for setup and configuration; the details could not be independently checked here. Keep the test read-only, and avoid using sensitive documents or data in screenshots shared publicly.
- Check metadata highlighting. Include documents with required text, choice, and taxonomy fields populated, missing, and—where applicable—set to a value that should be invalid. Compare each displayed result with the item’s actual library metadata. Record false positives, missed problems, and any field type or value the sample handles unexpectedly.
- Check folder scope. Open the intended folder view and verify that the review covers the selected scope rather than unrelated folders or the entire library. Note whether nested folders are included and whether navigation changes the results as expected.
- Check taxonomy values. Compare the displayed status for taxonomy fields with the values actually assigned to representative documents. Note the field configuration and any mismatch; local tests alone cannot show that live term values are handled correctly.
- Check permissions and throttling. Test with the permissions available to the intended user, including a case where access to the library or its contents is denied. Observe how the sample reports access failures. If throttling occurs, record what was happening and whether the interface communicates the problem clearly; do not infer behavior from a build result.
- Check remediation links. Follow links from flagged items and confirm each opens the intended source document, not a different item or an unexpected destination. Record the document and link behavior without posting sensitive URLs or content publicly.
- Check keyboard access and layout. Navigate the review and its links using a keyboard, noting whether focus is visible and the results can be reached in a sensible order. Check the layout at narrower viewport sizes for clipped content, inaccessible controls, or other usability problems.
What to include in feedback on the pull request
Report the tenant context only as specifically as is safe to share, along with the scenario and observed result. A useful report separates what worked from failures and includes reproducible details.

- Which test area you checked: metadata correctness, folder scope, taxonomy, permissions or throttling, link safety, keyboard access, or responsive layout.
- The relevant field type and whether the item was expected to pass or be flagged, without exposing confidential document data.
- What the sample displayed and what you verified in SharePoint.
- Steps to reproduce an issue, its impact, and whether it appears consistently.
- A screenshot only if it contains no sensitive information and is appropriate to share publicly.
The author’s request is for tenant-based feedback and screenshots on the pull request. Treat those findings as outstanding unless and until a tester reports them; the post itself is not evidence that the sample has been validated in a tenant.
Source and verification context
This account reflects Vilius’s DEV Community post, accessed October 7, 2026. The retrieved result did not state the post’s publication year. The repository README and pull request could not be independently reviewed, and no real-tenant test result was available. The sample’s described behavior and local checks should therefore be understood as claims reported by the post, not independently confirmed results.
