The guide below explains the documented tactics for 12 named fighters, what they rely on, and the openings their plans create. It is not a complete live-roster list; the available character descriptions do not establish every current hero. Character advice can also shift with balance updates.
How the team format and basic mechanics work
Each player chooses a team of three fighters, whose abilities can be upgraded. That makes character selection part of the strategy: consider how your heroes’ abilities and resources interact with the opposing team, rather than expecting one fighter to answer every situation. The game supports online PvP and offline matches against bots; online PvP requires a stable internet connection. Availability listed by Google Play includes Android and Windows.

Shadow energy fills as you deal and receive damage, and hero talents also affect how quickly it fills. New talents are unlocked with hero shards after the hero itself is unlocked. Because the fighters below have different relationships with shadow energy, watch both your own and your opponent’s resource before committing to a plan.

Blocking, throws and repeated attacks
- Block: stop moving and do not press buttons for a few seconds; the character blocks automatically.
- Throw: get close, then press attack together with movement toward the opponent.
- Against repeated attacks: the game’s help guidance is to block, including by doing nothing or walking, then answer with a quick attack. This is general advice, not a guaranteed counter to every move or situation.
These are broad controls, not a move-by-move input list. Exact strings, frame advantage and damage values are not established here, and can change with updates.

- PLAY INDOORS OR OUTDOORS – Place the projector anywhere for versatile play time. Play alone or with a friend!
Character strategies
The descriptions below focus on each fighter’s documented identity: how they try to create an opening, what resource or range they favor, and what the opponent can look to disrupt. Treat the strategy notes as guidance, not guaranteed outcomes or a ranking. Nekki’s hero descriptions provide the ability basics; Pocket Gamer’s character guide was updated 5 October 2026 for version 1.9.85, but its strategy judgments are editorial advice and may become dated.
Ling: wait, then punish
Ling’s plan is patient and defensive: wait for an opening, then punish with the katana. His flask is also part of his signature kit. Avoid turning his defensive identity into passive inaction; the aim is to make the opponent commit and take advantage of the opportunity that creates.
Marcus: make the heavy sword harder to read
Marcus’ heavy sword deals high damage, while Through the Glitch makes his attacks faster and less predictable. He wants the opponent to misread when an attack is coming. Stay alert to changes in the timing and do not assume every approach will follow the same rhythm.

- Immerse yourself in the epic scale of Middle-Earth as you forge a new ring and siege epic fortresses to face the dark lord and Nazgul.
- Experience a richer and more personal world full of new enemy types, stronger personalities and deeper stories - anyone you face can now evolve from a lowly soldier to a mighty overlord.
- Go behind enemy lines and use strategy, cunning or brute force to conquer Sauron' s fortresses and turn them against him.
Azuma: disrupt shadow-powered plans
Azuma’s attacks can neutralize shadow energy, and a successful hit can knock an opponent out of shadow form. That gives him team-counter value against opponents whose plans depend on shadow abilities. Try to land those hits when shadow form matters; opponents can reduce the value of his role by not relying on that resource.
Ironclad: close the gap and stay close
Ironclad is strongest at close range, has no ranged attack, and is described as resilient. His shadow abilities can help him close distance. He wants to turn an approach into close combat; opponents should make use of distance while it is available rather than willingly fighting at his preferred range.
Shang: build toward shadow combos
Shang’s plan is to build toward shadow form and use successful shadow-ability combos to overwhelm the opponent. His threat is tied to getting that resource and converting it into a sequence. Disrupting his setup or limiting the value of his shadow opportunities challenges the plan; the description does not establish a universal counter.

Fireguard: use regenerating shadow energy, account for the blast
Fireguard’s shadow energy regenerates automatically, giving him a recurring resource for shadow techniques. His self-destruct effect after fatal damage is also part of his kit, so do not treat the moment of defeat as automatically harmless. Use his shadow abilities as openings arise, while opponents should remain mindful of the post-defeat effect.

Kate: pressure shadow-dependent opponents
Kate can drain an opponent’s shadow energy. Nekki recommends an aggressive approach against fighters who depend on that resource. Her utility is especially relevant when the opposing team’s plans revolve around shadow form or abilities; against a less dependent opponent, that specific advantage matters less.
Yukka and Shade: build on Wounds
Yukka can command Shade to attack, and Guillotine deals more damage as the opponent accumulates Wounds. The documented tactic is therefore to use Shade and take advantage of the Wounds already present when seeking Guillotine damage. Opponents should avoid allowing Wounds to build unchecked if they can safely manage the pressure; exact damage scaling is not specified.
Rank #4
- Harness the Spirit of vengeance to inflict brutal combos while mastering powerful new skills and weaponry.
- Exploit the individual fears, weakness and memories of your enemies as you dismantle Sauron's forces from within.
- Become the most feared force in Mordor in a new chronicle set before the events of the Lord of the Rings.
Kibo: make attacks count
Kibo loses shadow energy when attacks miss, so accuracy and distance matter before committing. She is not a fighter to pilot by throwing out attacks without considering whether they can connect. Opponents can make her resource plan harder by keeping her from landing the attacks she needs.
Emperor: transform, then press the advantage
The Emperor accumulates shadow energy to transform into the Shadow Beast, where his damage increases. His plan is to reach that transformation and use the stronger damage aggressively. Opponents should account for the resource buildup and avoid treating the transformed state like his ordinary form.
Jack Bulwark: defend against shadow form and preserve Fractures
Jack’s Shadow Fortress can block attacks during an opponent’s shadow form, giving him a defensive answer to that phase. His Fractures persist between rounds, according to Nekki’s description. Use the fortress when the opponent’s shadow form is the relevant threat; keep Fractures in mind as a continuing effect rather than assuming a round reset removes them.
Jet: build Cyclone charges before forcing an opening
Jet’s guidance is to be cautious early, build Cyclone charges, then use attacks that can break blocks. Her plan rewards patience before pressure. Opponents can challenge it by denying comfortable buildup, but the available description does not specify exact charge counts or attack inputs.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose a three-hero team
There is no reliable universal “best” character order from these descriptions alone. A useful selection process is to decide what kinds of plans you want your team to cover:
- Against shadow-reliant teams: consider the anti-shadow utility described for Azuma and Kate. Their value depends on how much the opposing lineup relies on shadow energy.
- For close-range pressure: Ironclad is explicitly strongest up close, while Shang and the Emperor build toward shadow-powered offense. These are different approaches and have different resource requirements.
- For a patient opening: Ling is described around waiting for a chance to punish; Jet builds Cyclone charges before using block-breaking attacks.
- For defensive answers: Jack Bulwark’s Shadow Fortress is specifically relevant during an opponent’s shadow form, while Ling’s overall approach is defensive and patient.
Team level, unlocked talents, matchup and game version all affect how these plans work. The available advice does not establish matchup percentages, a definitive tier list or one lineup that is best in every mode.
Platforms and optional controller support
Google Play lists Android and Windows availability. Nekki’s support information says the game supports DualShock and Xbox controllers, as well as gamepads based on them, but device settings or installed software can interfere. A controller is optional, not a requirement; confirm support for your own device and platform before buying or configuring one.
