Choose one URL form and use it consistently
www is a subdomain commonly used as a prefix, not a requirement. The help article notes, “As no standard or policy requires the use of www, many websites don’t use it.” Either toggle position expresses a preference for the website URLs; select the form that matches the address you want visitors to use.
What this toggle does not establish
The setting instructions say URLs reflect the selected preference, but do not specify whether changing it creates redirects, changes canonical tags, modifies DNS records, or affects existing search indexing. Do not assume those outcomes from the toggle alone.
Domain connection is a separate task. The manual-mode domain guide covers nameserver and CNAME methods, and its DNS propagation guidance applies to connecting a domain—not to a documented side effect of changing this preference. If you need to confirm how a particular domain resolves, check its domain and DNS configuration separately: domain connection instructions.
