Set Chrome as your default browser

If Chrome is not installed, open the App Store, search for Chrome, tap Get, complete any prompts, and open the app. Google’s setup instructions describe this installation process.

In Chrome, tap More > Settings > Default Browser.

Tap Go to Settings… > Default Browser App, then select Chrome.

What happens after you change the setting
Google says links you click will open automatically in Chrome whenever possible. In some countries, you may be asked to choose a default browser; Google says you can change that choice later. Google Chrome Help

If the default-browser option is missing

Confirm that Chrome is installed.

If Chrome does not show Default Browser in its settings, update the app, as Google advises.

Google’s instructions say iOS 14 or later is required to select a default browser. Separately, Google’s current Chrome setup page lists iOS 18 and later as the supported operating-system range. The iOS 14 setting requirement does not establish that every current Chrome version runs on iOS 14.

Do you need to sign in to Chrome?
No Google Account sign-in is listed as a prerequisite for changing the default browser. Google says an account is required for signing in, but that is separate from selecting Chrome as the default.
