Seedance MCP in Cursor: Set Up OAuth, a Token, or Local Stdio

Connect Seedance MCP to Cursor using the hosted endpoint or local stdio, choose one authentication method, and verify task results rather than relying on tool discovery alone.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To use Seedance MCP in Cursor, add the Seedance server to Cursor’s MCP configuration, choose one authentication method, and then confirm that Cursor loads its tools. The documented hosted endpoint is https://seedance.mcp.acedata.cloud/mcp. A loaded tool or reachable endpoint does not prove a video will generate successfully; verify the returned task and inspect its finished media.

Choose how to connect

The SeedanceMCP repository documents a hosted server with OAuth or an API token, plus a local stdio package. Hosted versus local describes where the MCP process runs; local stdio still calls the AceDataCloud API and is not an offline generation option. Choose one authentication method for the hosted server rather than combining OAuth with a fixed Authorization header.

Option Where the MCP server runs Authentication What to know
Hosted OAuth Remote hosted endpoint Hosted sign-in; requires an AceDataCloud account Use when you can complete the hosted OAuth flow.
Hosted API token Remote hosted endpoint Bearer token in an Authorization header Useful when you need to provide a fixed credential; keep it out of committed files.
Local stdio Local process launched by Cursor API token supplied to the process environment The process still depends on the AceDataCloud API.

Cursor supports custom MCP servers through mcp.json. Use .cursor/mcp.json for a project-specific setup or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for a user-wide setup. Cursor also documents installing servers through its Marketplace. Cursor’s MCP documentation explains its configuration options.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Configure the hosted server with OAuth

For a project setup, add the server entry to the existing .cursor/mcp.json. For a user-wide setup, use ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Preserve other server entries already in the file and merge this entry under mcpServers:

    "seedance": {"url": "https://seedance.mcp.acedata.cloud/mcp"}
  }
}

Save the file, then use Cursor’s MCP interface to check that the server connects and its tools appear. The hosted OAuth route requires an AceDataCloud account and completion of its sign-in flow. Configuration syntax and service behavior are documented in the SeedanceMCP repository.

Configure the hosted server with an API token

If you prefer a fixed credential, set an environment variable named ACEDATACLOUD_API_TOKEN in the environment Cursor can access, then use Cursor’s environment-variable interpolation in the server configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "seedance": {
      "url": "https://seedance.mcp.acedata.cloud/mcp",
      "headers": {"Authorization": "Bearer ${env:ACEDATACLOUD_API_TOKEN}"}
    }
  }
}

Cursor resolves environment variables in configuration values, including headers. Do not put the token directly into a project configuration that may be committed, or expose it in screenshots. Use either hosted OAuth or this Authorization header for the server, not both.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Run the local stdio package

The repository documents a Python package that Cursor can launch as a local process. Install it, make the token available in the environment used by Cursor, and configure the server to run the package:

  2. Set ACEDATACLOUD_API_TOKEN in the environment that will launch Cursor or its MCP process.

  3. Add a stdio server entry to the applicable mcp.json file using mcp-seedance as the launch command, following the repository’s configuration example.

This runs the MCP server locally, but generation still depends on AceDataCloud’s API. The package installation alone does not establish that the service is reachable, an account is authorized, or a generation will succeed.

Check the connection and verify a generation

Work from connection checks toward an actual result. A health response can indicate reachability, but it cannot establish that authentication, account access, or generation works. Likewise, tool discovery only shows that Cursor loaded tool definitions.

  1. Confirm the server connects. Look in Cursor’s MCP interface for the Seedance server and its tools. If it does not load, recheck the JSON structure, configuration location, environment variable, and selected authentication method.

    Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  2. Review service terms and displayed pricing before generating. The hosted service may be metered, so check current service documentation and pricing before making a real request.

  3. Try a clear test prompt. The repository suggests: “Generate a short video of clouds moving over a mountain, then retrieve the completed task and final video URL.” This is an example prompt, not a guarantee of success or runtime.

  4. Track the same task. If the generation response includes a task ID, keep it and query that task until it reaches a terminal success or failure state. Do not submit another generation just to check progress.

  5. Inspect the result. On success, retrieve the final video URL and check that the media is accessible and matches the request. A submitted task is not proof of a completed video.

What tools are available

The repository lists tools for text-to-video and image-to-video generation, checking an individual task, querying multiple tasks, listing models, listing resolutions, and listing actions. The available models and settings can change, so check the repository and service documentation for current capabilities rather than relying on a model name or resolution from an old configuration example. A model-list tool is reference information; it does not confirm API access or account balance.
