The move followed Securitize’s announcement of an exploratory memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korean technology company LG CNS. The agreement is to examine tokenized funds, equities, stablecoins and related infrastructure—not to launch a product or confirm revenue. South Korea’s proposed rules for tokenized securities provide the policy backdrop, but they were still under consultation as of October 2026.
What Securitize and LG CNS announced
On October 6, Securitize and LG CNS announced an MOU to explore opportunities involving tokenized assets and securities, stablecoins and digital-asset infrastructure for Korean financial institutions, with possible opportunities elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region. Securitize brings experience in regulated tokenization and institutional products; LG CNS brings technology capabilities and relationships in Korea’s financial sector. Securitize’s announcement describes areas for investigation, not a completed deployment. It does not disclose financial terms or establish that the companies have launched a service, secured regulatory approval for a product or booked revenue from the agreement.

Why South Korea’s policy direction matters
Proposed rules are still being consulted on
On October 1, 2026, South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) proposed subordinate-rule revisions intended to enable the issuance and circulation of tokenized securities under an updated legal framework. The consultation period runs from October 2 through November 11, 2026. The framework is scheduled to take effect on February 4, 2027; as of October 2026, the proposed detailed rules were not yet in force. The FSC describes proposed coverage that includes stocks, bonds, funds and specified fractional-investment securities. Read the FSC’s October 1 announcement.
The roadmap describes a staged rollout
The FSC’s September 4 roadmap sets out three phases for infrastructure development involving securities firms and the Korea Securities Depository. In the initial phase, the roadmap identifies certain privately pooled institutional money market funds (MMFs) and bonds, unlisted stocks issued through a trust structure, and publicly offered fractional-investment securities. That is a narrower starting scope than treating every share, fund or other asset as immediately available on a tokenized system. The regulator says that, when the relevant legal update takes effect, security tokens will be legally recognized as a digitized form of securities. See the FSC’s roadmap.

What the reported 8% share move does—and does not—show
TokenPost reported that SECZ rose nearly 8% to around $12.60 in early trading on October 6, then pulled back. That figure is a secondary-media report: the materials available here do not independently confirm the intraday percentage or the closing return with exchange or primary market data. It should not be read as a verified full-day gain or as proof that the MOU caused the move. TokenPost’s report is the source for the early-session figure.
The timing links the share-price report to the partnership news, but timing alone cannot establish why a stock moved. The MOU remains exploratory, and the policy framework is still in a proposal and consultation stage; neither fact demonstrates a revenue stream from Korean operations.

SECZ shares and tokenized SECZ are different things
Securitize says its common stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SECZ on July 2, 2026. Separately, the company describes a tokenized SECZ offering as an issuer-sponsored representation available to eligible U.S. investors through its regulated platform. The listed shares and the tokenized representation should not be treated as interchangeable with one another or with crypto tokens generally. The SEC divisions’ January 28, 2026 statement defines a tokenized security as a security represented by a crypto asset, with ownership recorded partly or wholly on crypto networks, and distinguishes issuer-sponsored tokenization from tokenization by unaffiliated third parties. Securitize’s listing announcement provides the company’s description of SECZ, while the SEC divisions’ statement explains the distinction.

In its August 12, 2026 results release, Securitize reported second-quarter revenue of $14.4 million and a net loss of $21.7 million. It also reported $5.3 billion in aggregate transaction volume during the quarter and $4.3 billion in total assets under management as of June 30, 2026. These are company-reported figures; they provide context on the business, but do not show that the LG CNS MOU will produce revenue or explain the October 6 share move.
