To find articles on a particular website with Google, start with site:example.com followed immediately by words about the topic. For example, site:example.com climate policy asks Google to show relevant results from that domain. Add quotes, exclusions, date filters, or a file type when you need to narrow the search.
Search a website for a topic
Use site: followed by a domain, URL, or URL prefix, then add ordinary search terms. Keep the domain directly after the colon—write site:example.com, not site: example.com. Google documents this syntax for limiting results to a site or part of one (Google Search Central).

site:example.com climate policysearches that domain for pages relevant to climate policy.site:https://www.example.com/health/ vaccinestargets a URL prefix and searches it for vaccine-related pages.
Replace the example domain and topic with the site and subject you want. Including topic words is important: a query containing only site:example.com does not provide a meaningful ranking of the site’s pages.

Refine the query to find a particular kind of article
Google’s search refinements can be combined with a site restriction to narrow what you are looking for (Google Search Help).

Date filters help you discover results associated with a time period; they do not independently verify that a page is current. Check the page itself when freshness matters.
Know what a site search can and cannot show
A site: search is a discovery aid, not a complete inventory. Google says it may show indexed URLs but is not guaranteed to return every URL under a domain or prefix. Results from a query containing only the shortest site restriction may also be generally random rather than meaningfully ranked (Google Search Central).

If you are a site owner trying to determine whether a specific page is indexed, do not treat search results as definitive. Google Search Central says: “Because search operators are bound by indexing and retrieval limits, the URL Inspection tool in Search Console is more reliable for debugging purposes.” Use URL Inspection for that page-level check.
