The 100-image allowance applies to fresh screenshots. ScreenshotMachine’s pricing FAQ says: “No. We charge only for new, fresh screenshots.” The same FAQ says screenshots are cached for 14 days and loading a cached screenshot is not billed. These are statements from ScreenshotMachine, not independent test results.

The API reference documents the cacheLimit parameter as accepting values from 0 to 14 days, with a default of 14. A value of 0 requests a fresh capture. A lower cache limit can make the service reject older cached images and capture again, which uses a fresh screenshot allowance. The pages reviewed do not specify an exact monthly reset date or whether unused free captures roll over.
What happens when the allowance is used
The API reference documents no_credits as the error code for an exhausted account and says more fresh screenshots need to be bought. It does not describe a detailed recovery or reset procedure for free accounts. If you reach that error, check your account and the current plan terms rather than assuming when the allowance will renew.
