First find out which tool owns the schedule that is changing. A YouTube scheduled broadcast, an encoder, and a separate 24/7 playlist scheduler can each have their own timing settings. Check the relevant schedule before changing time zones elsewhere: a correct YouTube event time will not necessarily fix a playlist scheduler that is switching videos on its own clock.
Identify what is changing and when
Before editing anything, record the date and time you expected, the time shown in each relevant app, and the time zone each app uses. Note whether the issue is with the whole broadcast, a playlist item, the event shown in YouTube Studio, or an encoder error.

- The whole broadcast starts early or late: check the scheduled event and whichever encoder or service starts it.
- The stream stays live, but the video changes at the wrong hour: check the playlist or playout scheduler that controls item changes.
- The event appears at an unexpected time in an interface: compare the event’s actual timestamp and the interface’s time-zone display.
- The encoder refuses to create the broadcast: check the host computer’s clock and the start time being sent.
- Only the displayed publication date differs: determine whether you are looking at a scheduled upload rather than a live event.
A continuous playlist may involve more than one timing layer. YouTube documents broadcast settings, while an encoder or hosted playout service may control when a stream starts or when its playlist advances. Do not assume that every service uses the same time zone or clock.

- Open YouTube Studio and choose Create → Go live.
- In Live Control Room, select the intended scheduled stream. Confirm that you are inspecting the correct event, not another broadcast with a similar title.
- Check the scheduled date and time against the time you recorded. If you edit or reschedule the event, confirm the resulting time in the event settings.
- If you use a reused stream configuration, review its settings rather than assuming they are fresh. YouTube says reuse carries over metadata, settings, the stream key, and auto-start and auto-stop choices.
YouTube notes that a scheduled stream may appear to subscribers as upcoming. That is distinct from whether a separate playlist scheduler will advance its content at the right time.

Compare timestamps in the same time zone
For a workflow that uses the YouTube Live Streaming API, inspect the broadcast’s scheduled start and end as datetimes. The API reference specifies ISO 8601 values, such as YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss.sZ. A timestamp ending in Z is expressed in UTC; compare it with an equivalent local time, not with the same digits on a local clock.
If the API broadcast has no scheduled end time, YouTube treats it as continuing indefinitely. That is an end-time behavior, not an explanation for a playlist item switching at the wrong hour.

For example, if one tool displays a UTC timestamp and another displays local wall time, convert both to the same time zone before deciding there is a mismatch. Also check whether the date changes during that conversion; an apparently wrong day can be a time-zone difference rather than a wrong schedule.

YouTube’s guidance about the watch-page “Published on” date applies to scheduled video publishing. It asks creators to choose a date, time, and time zone, and says the watch-page date is based on Pacific Standard Time. For a public video uploaded or scheduled from a time zone ahead of PST, the displayed date can differ from the date shown in Studio.

That guidance does not establish that every scheduled live stream or third-party playlist scheduler should use Pacific time. If the live event itself starts at the wrong time, inspect the event and the service that triggers it rather than changing the time zone based on a video publication date.
Fix an encoder error about an invalid scheduled start time
If OBS reports “Scheduled start time must be in the future and close enough to the current date that a broadcast could be reliably scheduled at that time,” check the computer that is sending the schedule before changing the YouTube event repeatedly.

- Check the host computer’s date, time, and time zone against a reliable clock and the intended event time.
- Enable or run the operating system’s clock synchronization, then verify the displayed time again.
- Check that the start time sent by the encoder is still in the future after accounting for its time zone or UTC offset.
- Retry creating the broadcast. If the error remains, note the exact timestamp and time zone the encoder is sending and compare those with the event you intend to schedule.
An OBS forum discussion from November 2024 described a similar error after the daylight-saving change on November 3; a respondent reported that synchronizing a mis-set system clock fixed a similar case. The original poster said the displayed clock seemed correct. Treat this as a useful, low-cost diagnostic check—not proof that daylight saving or a clock mismatch causes every such error.

If the YouTube event starts at the right time but the playlist changes items at the wrong hour, inspect the service that actually controls the playlist. Check its configured time zone, the scheduled date, whether the schedule repeats, how it handles daylight-saving transitions, and whether it schedules clock times or simply plays videos in sequence.

Correcting YouTube’s event time cannot be assumed to correct a separate service’s internal schedule. If the tool’s settings do not make clear which time zone is used, consult its help documentation or support and provide the scheduled time, date, selected time zone, and what time the transition occurred.
One documented hosted option
OneStream Live describes a hosted 24/7 YouTube workflow in which you choose videos, select a YouTube channel, schedule the stream immediately or for later, and set a duration in days. Its help page, last updated September 3, 2026, says the 24/7 feature is exclusive to YouTube, requires Enterprise, and allows a maximum of 30 days per setup. These are the vendor’s stated terms; check its current documentation before relying on them.
Verify the correction and prepare for the next schedule
- After changing the setting in the tool that owns the schedule, reopen the event or schedule and confirm the displayed date, time, and time zone.
- Where available, compare the scheduled timestamp with the intended local time after converting both to the same time zone.
- At the next playlist transition or broadcast start, check whether the correct event or item changed at the expected time.
- Keep a documented reference time zone for recurring schedules and note daylight-saving changes that affect your region or service.
- If the schedule changes, tell viewers. YouTube recommends communicating a live-stream schedule and changes to fans, and points to scheduling or reuse settings as ways to help automate streams.
