Identify what is timing out
Record the exact command and error message, then identify which layer produced it. Screenshot Machine documents requests to https://api.screenshotmachine.com/ using HTTP GET query parameters, including a Bash example that calls the API with curl. That is different from a documented, vendor-provided CLI with its own timeout option. If you use a separately installed wrapper called “ScreenshotMachine CLI,” its timeout flags depend on that wrapper’s implementation.

- The screenshot returns, but content is missing: the capture may be happening before the page finishes rendering. Increase the API’s
delayand inspect the result. - The process exits with a timeout or deadline error: the HTTP client, script, CI runner, or wrapper may be ending the request before it receives a response. Configure that caller’s request timeout using its own documented option.
- The API returns an error: inspect the response before treating it as a slow-page problem.
Screenshot Machine’s documentation does not specify a universal request-timeout flag, a vendor-side maximum processing duration, or a guarantee that waiting longer will make a failed capture succeed.

Set the API’s delay parameter to make the capture engine wait before creating the screenshot. The documented default is 200 milliseconds. Allowed values are 0, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, and each whole second from 2 through 10 seconds. The documentation recommends a longer delay for long pages with images or animations. - Start from the current request and add or adjust
delayusing one of the documented values. - Capture the same page again and check whether the missing content appears.
- Increase the delay in modest steps if needed, staying at or below 10000 milliseconds.
A longer delay is a fixed wait, not a guarantee that every asynchronous task, animation, or late-loading element will finish.
Raise the caller’s request timeout only when it is aborting
If the timeout message comes from curl, an HTTP library, a CI runner, or a wrapper, adjust the request deadline at that layer. The correct setting and syntax vary by client, so check that tool’s help or documentation rather than assuming a Screenshot Machine parameter controls it. A client timeout gives the caller more time to wait; it does not change the page’s rendering behavior or guarantee success.

Screenshot Machine’s documented interface is an HTTP GET request with query parameters. A valid request needs both key and url; percent-encode the URL, especially when it contains reserved characters such as & or ?. The vendor’s API example and parameter reference.
Read the API error before changing timing settings

Keep capture dimensions within the documented limits
Dimensions are capture settings, not timeout controls. Screenshot Machine documents widths from 100 to 1920 pixels and heights from 100 to 9999 pixels, or full for full-page height. Its documentation suggests a longer delay for full-length pages because they can contain more images or animations; use a delay value within the documented range and assess the resulting capture.

No. Its cited documentation demonstrates a shell script calling the hosted HTTP GET API and lists the capture-delay parameter, but does not document a vendor CLI timeout setting.
Will increasing delay stop curl from timing out?
