To capture a full-page website screenshot with ScreenshotMachine, send a GET request to https://api.screenshotmachine.com/ with your API key, the target page URL, and a dimension such as 1366xfull. The full height asks the API to capture the page beyond the visible browser viewport; raise the delay for long pages that need extra time to load images or animations.
Make a full-page screenshot request
ScreenshotMachine’s API uses HTTP GET query parameters. Its required inputs are your customer key and the webpage url. Set dimension to a width followed by xfull; for example, 1366xfull requests a 1366-pixel-wide full-page capture.

Choose the full-page dimensions and capture settings
Width, full height, and device
The dimension format is [width]x[height]. ScreenshotMachine documents widths from 100 to 1920 pixels and numeric heights from 100 to 9999 pixels. You can instead use full as the height, such as 1024xfull, to request a full-length page rather than a fixed-height viewport image. A long page can produce a very tall image.
The optional device setting accepts desktop, phone, or tablet; its documented default is desktop. Choose the profile and width that match the layout you need to inspect. A device profile is not a substitute for checking the resulting capture, since responsive layouts and site behavior vary.

Parameter ranges and defaults in this table are from ScreenshotMachine’s API documentation. Consider cache freshness when a page changes frequently: the provider describes cacheLimit=0 as always fetching a fresh screenshot, while a longer cache limit can reuse a cached capture.
Give long pages time to load
ScreenshotMachine advises using a greater delay for full-length pages with many images or animations, giving delay=2000 or more as an example. If a capture misses content, try a higher supported delay and inspect the result for that particular site. The setting is a wait interval, not a promise that every lazy-loaded image, animation, interactive section, or gated element will appear.

Keep in mind that a full capture may be very tall. If your workflow needs a bounded image, use a numeric height instead; numeric heights are documented up to 9999 pixels. For a page whose layout changes with screen size, test the width and device combination that matches the intended viewing context.
Use click and hash options when needed
Click a page element before capture
The optional click parameter accepts a CSS selector and can trigger a click before the screenshot—for example, to close a banner if the page provides a suitable control. Whether that selector exists and whether clicking it changes the page as intended depend on the target site.
Protect requests made from public pages
If you call the API from publicly available HTML, ScreenshotMachine recommends using hash. Its documentation describes the hash as an MD5 value calculated from the URL plus your account’s secret phrase. When a secret phrase is configured, requests with a missing or incorrect hash are ignored. Follow the provider’s instructions for constructing it, and avoid exposing the secret phrase in public client-side code.

ScreenshotMachine’s pricing page, checked in 2026, lists these monthly fresh-screenshot quotas and prices. The provider says cached screenshots do not count as newly billed fresh screenshots. Prices and plan terms can change, so verify the current page before purchasing.

Troubleshoot a missing or incorrect capture
- The request is rejected or ignored: check that the customer
keyand targeturlare present, and ensure the URL is encoded. If your account has a secret phrase configured and you call from public HTML, verify the documentedhashcalculation. - The screenshot is not full height: confirm that
dimensionuses the literalfullheight, as in1366xfull, rather than a numeric height. - Images or animations are missing: increase
delayto a supported value, such as 2000 ms or more, then inspect the result. A longer wait may help but does not guarantee that site-specific or gated content loads. - The page looks different than expected: verify the requested width and
deviceprofile, then check whether the site changes its layout responsively. If an overlay has a dismiss control, consider using its CSS selector withclick. - The screenshot appears stale: lower
cacheLimit; set it to0when you need a fresh fetch on every request. Cached captures and fresh captures have different quota implications under the provider’s pricing description. - The image is too large or unwieldy: full-page height can produce a very tall file. Use a numeric height when a bounded capture is more useful, or choose an output format and width suitable for your processing pipeline.
