The allowance is your total monthly screenshot request volume. Workers determine how many snapshots can be processed at once: Screenshotlayer says a plan with 10 dedicated workers can process 10 snapshots simultaneously. Thus, Basic’s 10 workers are not a 10-request monthly cap; its published allowance is 10,000 snapshots per month. Professional lists 20 workers and Enterprise 40. Pricing and FAQ.

Unused monthly calls do not carry over to the next term. The terms also reserve the right to limit or throttle calls if APILayer believes they are malicious or caused by a technical error, which is separate from the normal plan quota. Screenshotlayer Terms & Conditions.
What happens when you reach the limit?
Screenshotlayer’s customer-facing FAQ and pricing material say it sends email and dashboard notices at 75%, 90%, and 100% of the monthly allowance, and describe overage fees after the allowance is exceeded. However, its terms say that once the monthly usage limit is exceeded, the API returns an error and no further API calls can be made within the current monthly term. These statements do not establish one consistent outcome for every account. Before relying on extra calls, ask Screenshotlayer or check your account’s current billing and enforcement terms.

The billing overages documentation gives example extra-call rates of $0.007996 for Basic, $0.0079986667 for Professional, and $0.0079994667 for Enterprise. Its example for 10,000 additional calls totals $79.96, $79.99, and $79.99, respectively. Treat these as examples on the current official page, not a guarantee that your account will be billed this way, given the conflicting terms.
How to choose a plan for your workload
- Estimate monthly volume: count expected screenshot requests over the billing month, including routine recaptures. Free’s published allowance is 100 per month; the paid tiers list 10,000, 30,000, and 75,000.
- Estimate peak concurrency separately: compare the number of jobs you need running at once with the listed worker count. A monthly allowance alone does not tell you how quickly a backlog can finish.
- Check feature needs: plan comparisons list differences in features such as commercial use, Retina/2x, WebP, and exports. Confirm the live comparison because feature bundles can change. Screenshotlayer pricing.
- Account for over-quota risk: because the official pages differ on billing versus blocked calls, do not size a production workflow on the assumption that excess requests will succeed or be charged at the example rates.
- Consider annual billing carefully: the pricing page advertises up to 15% savings for annual billing, but compare the current checkout total and cancellation terms against your expected use.
