To keep a subscription reminder visible during a 24/7 YouTube stream, pin a short, plain-text message in Live Chat using the creator account. You can pin your own message or a viewer’s, but only one message can be pinned at a time; pinning another replaces it. Treat the message as a reminder, not a proven way to increase subscriptions: YouTube’s feature guidance explains how pinning works, but does not establish a conversion lift or best-performing wording.
Write a short message that asks viewers to subscribe
Make the requested action clear and keep the tone courteous. For example: “Enjoying the stream? Subscribe to the channel for more—thanks for watching!” This is an editorial suggestion, not tested copy.

- Keep the message within YouTube’s 200-character Live Chat message limit.
- Use plain text. YouTube says special characters, URLs, and HTML tags are not allowed in Live Chat.
- Do not add an external link or promise a benefit you cannot deliver. A pinned reminder is not a guarantee of subscriptions.
Pin the message from the creator account
- Open the live stream’s watch page on desktop and open Live Chat.
- Find the message you want to keep visible. It can be one you posted yourself or a viewer’s message.
- Open that message’s More menu and choose Pin.
- Check that the intended text now appears as the pinned message.
Only the creator can pin messages; moderators and viewers cannot. Only one message is pinned at a time. To change it, pin another message. To remove it, choose Unpin from the message menu.

Keep the pinned prompt current on a continuous stream
For an ongoing broadcast, make checking the pinned message part of your stream-maintenance routine. Confirm that it is still the version you want viewers to see, and replace it when the stream’s purpose or call to action changes. YouTube documents replacing and unpinning messages, but the guidance does not promise that a pin will persist through a new stream, restart, or interruption; verify it after those events rather than assuming it carried over.

Know who can see and use Live Chat
- Live Chat is available on YouTube watch pages, not embedded players. Viewers watching an embedded stream should not be assumed to see the pinned prompt.
- Chat availability and moderation settings affect the chat experience. YouTube provides controls to turn chat on or off and configure slow mode.
- Some chat features may be unavailable when chat is subscribers-only. That caveat concerns participation in chat; it does not establish that the subscribe option itself disappears.
What a pinned message can—and cannot—tell you
YouTube Help documents a viewer allowance of up to 11 messages to chat every 30 seconds. That is a message-rate limit, not a recommended frequency for repeating a subscription prompt. Pinning keeps one message prominent in chat; it does not demonstrate that viewers saw it or that it caused them to subscribe. The official feature guidance does not provide a conversion-rate figure or a controlled comparison of message wording.
Troubleshoot a prompt that is missing or wrong
- The intended prompt is not pinned: Use the creator account, open the message’s More menu, and select Pin. Only the creator can perform this action.
- A different message is pinned: Pin the intended message; it replaces the existing pin. Check the result in Live Chat.
- The prompt contains a link or formatting: Edit it to plain text without URLs or HTML tags, then pin the revised message.
- Embedded viewers cannot see it: The chat feature is available on the watch page, not embedded players. Direct viewers to the YouTube watch page if they need Live Chat.
- The prompt changed after a restart or interruption: Reopen chat and check the pin. Persistence through a new broadcast or interruption is not promised in the feature guidance.
