Scrcpy is the better default if you want free, open-source Android control and do not mind following setup instructions. Vysor is a better fit if you prefer a graphical workflow and are willing to consider a paid plan for advertised conveniences such as Wi-Fi, file transfer, and team sharing. Both can show and control an Android phone from a computer. Neither is a proven winner for speed or reliability: the available figures are project or vendor claims, not independent head-to-head test results.
Scrcpy vs. Vysor at a glance

| Setup and interface | Requires USB debugging for standard control, and its documentation uses command-line examples. A better fit if you are comfortable following setup steps. | Offers a graphical interface and a Chrome progressive web app; the vendor describes USB pairing and a basic free mode. |
| Connection | USB or TCP/IP, including documented wireless setup. | The vendor lists USB for free use and Wi-Fi as a Premium feature. |

Which tool should you choose?
Choose scrcpy for free, configurable control
Scrcpy is the stronger choice if you want a free and open-source tool, use Linux, Windows, or macOS, and are comfortable enabling Android developer settings and following project instructions. It supports USB and TCP/IP connections and does not require installing an Android-side app, according to its official repository.
The scrcpy README identifies the project version as 4.1 and reports 30–120 fps depending on the device, output at 1920×1080 or above, 35–70 ms latency, and about one second to display the first image. These are project-published figures, not independent measurements or a comparison with Vysor; your results can vary by device and setup.

Choose Vysor for a packaged graphical workflow
Vysor is worth considering if you prefer a graphical interface and want features the vendor associates with its Premium plan, including Wi-Fi, HD, recording, file transfer, and Team Sharing. Its site advertises Premium starting at $2.50 per month, but that is a vendor-listed starting price at the time reviewed—not a guaranteed price for every region or a promise that plan limits will remain unchanged. Check Vysor’s current site for the terms that apply to you.
Vysor describes itself as casting and commanding Android and iOS devices from a computer. For this comparison, the relevant question is whether its Android connection and plan features meet your needs; do not treat the vendor’s product description as an independent performance assessment.

How to control an Android phone from a computer with scrcpy
- Get scrcpy from the official source. Use the Genymobile/scrcpy GitHub repository. The project identifies that repository as its official source and warns against similarly named download sites.
- Check Android compatibility. The project documents Android API 21 or later (Android 5.0+) as the minimum for standard use.
- Enable USB debugging. On the phone, enable Developer Options and then USB debugging. Connect the phone to the computer with a data-capable cable, and approve the debugging authorization prompt if Android displays one.
- Start scrcpy. Follow the installation and launch instructions for your computer platform in the official repository. When connected, scrcpy displays the phone and lets you control it with the computer’s keyboard and mouse.
If input control fails on some devices, the README specifically notes that certain Xiaomi models may require the separate “USB debugging (Security Settings)” option in Developer Options, followed by a reboot. OTG mode is a distinct scrcpy mode that the project says does not require USB debugging.

USB is the most direct place to begin with either tool: connect the phone, authorize the computer where prompted, and use the tool’s interface or instructions. A suitable data cable is required for a wired connection; a cable that only charges the phone will not provide a data connection.

Features that may decide the choice
Recording, transfers, and sharing
The scrcpy project lists recording among its capabilities. Vysor advertises recording, file transfer, screenshots, and Team Sharing, with some features subject to plan. If a particular workflow is essential, confirm its availability and limits in the current documentation or plan terms rather than assuming every feature is included in free access.

The available primary-source material supports a feature and setup comparison, not a measured verdict on responsiveness, image quality, stability, or setup time. Scrcpy’s performance figures are published by its project, while Vysor’s feature and plan descriptions come from its vendor. No directly comparable independent benchmark is established here, so choose based on cost, preferred interface, connection method, and the workflow you need rather than assuming one is faster.
