Satellite Internet Providers: Compare Plans Available at Your Address

The best satellite internet provider depends on your address. Compare current local offers from Starlink, Hughesnet, and Viasat across full cost, speeds, data policies, and installation needs.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no single best satellite internet provider for every U.S. home: availability, plan options, and prices depend on the service address. Check which providers can serve your home, then compare their actual offers for cost, typical speeds, data policies, latency, equipment, and contract terms.

Which satellite internet providers should you check?

The residential providers substantiated here are Starlink, Hughesnet, and Viasat. Their websites do not establish that every plan is orderable at every address, so a national footprint or advertised plan is not enough to determine what you can buy. Start with each provider’s address lookup: Starlink residential service, Hughesnet home plans, and Viasat residential broadband labels.

What the providers disclose

Provider Published plan or performance information Important qualification
Starlink Residential plans include unlimited data. Residential Max is described as the highest-priority residential tier, with typical downloads up to 400+ Mbps and uploads of 20–40 Mbps. Residential 100 Mbps and Residential 200 Mbps are available only in select areas. The provider’s specifications page separately reports typical downloads of 25–220 Mbps, uploads of 5–20 Mbps, and land latency of 25–60 ms. Availability and performance vary by address and conditions. The specifications are provider-reported typical figures, not a promise for a particular home or necessarily representative of every current tier. Plan information and specifications.
Hughesnet Home plans include built-in Wi-Fi. Elite is advertised with downloads up to 100 Mbps. Hughesnet Fusion combines satellite and wireless technologies for a more responsive internet experience. Up to 100 Mbps is an advertised maximum, not a household-specific result. Availability varies by geographic area, and the surfaced home-plan information does not provide a complete address-matched price comparison. Hughesnet home plans.
Viasat Its broadband labels provide address-specific plan details. The labels explain equipment lease and possible installation fees, and describe how service can slow with plan, location, congestion, and data usage. Viasat says label typical-speed data is updated quarterly. Its September 30, 2026 announcement introduced Essentials, Unleashed, and Unleashed Max plans associated with ViaSat-3 Flight 2, but said full details and prices would be updated when plans go live. Do not assume unstated speeds or prices. Broadband labels and plan announcement.

How much does satellite internet cost?

Starlink’s U.S. residential page captured on October 7, 2026, listed starting prices of $55 per month for Residential 100 Mbps, $85 per month for Residential 200 Mbps, and $130 per month for Residential Max. These are page-captured starting offers, not guaranteed nationwide prices; Starlink says availability and promotions vary, and the offer shown after an address check is the relevant one. Maximum speeds are not guaranteed and may be slower during congestion. See the Starlink residential page.

For Hughesnet and Viasat, check the current address-specific offer rather than relying on an incomplete comparison or an introductory headline. Viasat’s announcement does not yet state full prices for its newly introduced plans. Include fees and promotion end dates in your comparison, not only the monthly service price.

Compare the offers that are actually available

Make one row for each provider that serves your address. Record the date you checked, because availability, promotions, and label details can change. Use this checklist when requesting or reviewing offers:

  • Total cost: monthly service price, equipment purchase or lease, installation, taxes, and any promotion end date.
  • Speed: typical download and upload figures, where published, and whether the number is a typical range or an advertised maximum. Note any peak-time or congestion caveat.
  • Data management: whether data is described as unlimited, any network-priority differences, and what happens during congestion or after a usage threshold.
  • Latency: use a published figure if one is available; do not infer latency from download speed.
  • Commitment and returns: contract length, cancellation conditions, equipment-return rules, and any fees. Verify these in the offer terms rather than assuming they are the same across providers.
  • Installation: equipment location, required sky view, and whether extra mounting work may be needed.

Check the installation site before choosing

Starlink says its kit includes a user terminal, Wi-Fi router, power supply, and mount. The terminal needs an unobstructed view of the sky; Starlink directs customers to use its app to identify an installation location. A blocked or impractical mounting location can affect whether the service works well at your home. See Starlink’s specifications and availability information.

How to decide which one is best for your household

  1. Check your address with each provider. Keep only providers showing an orderable residential plan for your location.
  2. Get the complete offer. Capture the monthly price, equipment and installation charges, promotion terms, contract and cancellation conditions, and equipment-return requirements.
  3. Match the plan to your use. Consider how many people and devices will be online, whether you stream or use video calls, and whether responsiveness matters. Compare data policies and network priority as well as headline speed.
  4. Confirm the site can support installation. Check the required sky view and the proposed terminal location before committing.
  5. Choose from the verified offers. Rank only the plans available at your address, using the costs and service details you collected—not a nationwide speed or price headline.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
