Sanity charges for billable team seats and can add usage overages or paid add-ons; WordPress.com bundles hosting into site plans, with its lowest paid monthly equivalent tied to a long prepayment term. The services are not like-for-like: Sanity is a content platform priced around projects, collaboration, and usage, while WordPress.com is a hosted website platform. The figures below are from the providers’ US pricing pages checked on October 7, 2026. Check your country’s current prices, taxes, checkout total, and renewal amount before subscribing.

How much does Sanity cost per month?

Sanity lists three options: Free at $0, Growth at $15 per billable seat per month, and Enterprise at custom pricing. Viewers are free on the listed plans. Growth is therefore a per-seat subscription, not a flat project price: the base monthly amount rises with each non-viewer seat.

Sanity plan Published price Published plan details
Free $0 Up to 20 seats and two public datasets. Published limits include 10,000 documents, 1 million API CDN requests per month, 250,000 API requests per month, 100 GB of assets, and 100 GB monthly bandwidth.
Growth $15 per seat per month; up to 50 seats Two public or private datasets, higher included document and attribute limits, and specified API, asset, and bandwidth quotas. Usage above included quotas may incur pay-as-you-go charges.
Enterprise Custom Custom seat counts, datasets, and quotas.

These are vendor-published US pricing figures, not a complete estimate for every project. Sanity’s pricing page lists current quotas and rates; confirm the amounts for your project in its Plan tab before budgeting.

What does Sanity Growth cost for a team?

At the published $15 rate, a five-person team with five billable users starts at $75 per month before overages, add-ons, and applicable tax. Ten billable users start at $150 per month. Viewers do not add to the seat charge. These examples assume every listed team member is a billable user and do not predict usage charges.

What can make Sanity cost more than its seat price?

Growth’s base seat fee is only one part of its potential bill. Sanity publishes paid add-ons and overage rates that can materially change the total:

Growth charge Published amount When it matters
Dedicated Support $799 per month If you add this support option.
Increased quota $299 per month If you add the quota option.
Additional dataset $999 per dataset per month If you need datasets beyond the two included.
Additional API CDN requests $1 per additional 250,000 requests When usage exceeds the included quota on a paid project.
Additional API requests $1 per additional 25,000 requests When usage exceeds the included quota on a paid project.
Additional assets $0.50 per additional 1 GB When asset usage exceeds the included quota on a paid project.
Additional bandwidth $0.30 per additional 1 GB When bandwidth exceeds the included quota on a paid project.

Sanity bills paid projects monthly in advance on calendar months; plan changes and cancellations are prorated. A paid project with a payment method can incur charges for usage above its included quotas. By contrast, Free and Growth Trial projects have hard caps and no overages: reaching a limit can block document creation, asset uploads, or public API/CDN service until the quota resets or the project is upgraded. Sanity’s billing documentation, last updated September 23, 2026, explains these billing and limit behaviors.

How much does WordPress.com cost per month?

WordPress.com offers Free, Personal, Premium, Business, and Commerce. Its US pricing page displays rates by billing term, so a monthly equivalent is not necessarily the amount charged each month. The pricing FAQ says Personal starts at $2.75 per month when billed every three years, or $4 per month when billed annually. A multi-year plan is prepaid for its term; the total at checkout and the renewal amount matter more than the monthly equivalent alone.

The current pricing page’s renewal-price field was dynamic and did not provide a stable renewal figure in the checked information. Verify the actual checkout and renewal totals for your location and chosen term. The page’s US-dollar prices exclude taxes, and prices or discounts can change. See the official WordPress.com pricing page for plan-specific monthly, annual, biennial, and triennial rates.

Does WordPress.com include hosting?

Yes. WordPress.com says hosting is included with every plan. Its Free plan includes a WordPress.com subdomain and 1 GB of storage, but does not include a custom domain, plugin installation, or ad-free browsing. Paid plans include additional bundled services; the pricing FAQ says paid annual or multi-year plans include a free domain for the first year, plugin installation, and ad-free browsing.

Which WordPress.com plan lets you install plugins?

Plugin installation is available on every paid WordPress.com tier, including Personal. Business is not required just to install plugins. The provider describes Business and Commerce as including developer tools, priority 24/7 support, 50 GB storage, and premium themes; Commerce adds a more integrated WooCommerce offering and e-commerce features. Check the plan table for the precise features relevant to your site.

Is Sanity cheaper than WordPress.com?

There is no single answer based on the lowest displayed price. The plans charge for different things: Sanity Growth’s base price depends on the number of billable users, with separate exposure to usage charges and add-ons. WordPress.com prices a hosted website plan, and the lowest paid monthly equivalent cited in its FAQ requires a three-year prepayment. A fair comparison should use the same time horizon and account for the actual work each service will do.

  • Team size: Multiply Sanity’s $15 monthly Growth seat price by billable users; viewers are free. WordPress.com’s listed plans are site plans, not Sanity-style per-seat subscriptions.
  • Usage: Compare your expected Sanity API, asset, and bandwidth consumption with included quotas. Exceeding them on a paid project can raise the bill.
  • Datasets and service: Growth includes two datasets; extra datasets and options such as Dedicated Support or Increased quota have substantial listed monthly charges. If your needs exceed Growth’s offering, Enterprise is custom-priced.
  • Billing commitment: For WordPress.com, compare the full prepaid term, renewal total, and taxes rather than treating a monthly equivalent as the checkout charge.
  • Included operations: WordPress.com includes hosting. Sanity’s project-and-content-platform pricing is not a bundled hosted website plan, so assess the rest of your publishing stack separately.
  • Development and editorial workflow: Decide whether you need Sanity’s project, dataset, and collaboration model or WordPress.com’s hosted website and bundled plan features; the pricing labels alone do not establish which is less expensive for your use case.

How to estimate your real cost

  1. Set the comparison period. Choose a month or a full year, and use that same horizon for both services. For WordPress.com, include the prepayment due for the selected term and check the renewal amount.
  2. Count Sanity billable users. Multiply the number of non-viewer Growth seats by $15 per month. Treat the result as a starting subscription amount, not an all-in quote.
  3. Check Sanity quotas and dataset needs. Compare expected use against the plan’s included document, API, asset, and bandwidth allowances, and count any datasets beyond the two included on Growth.
  4. Add likely extras. Use Sanity’s current pricing table and project Plan tab to assess any applicable overages or add-ons. For WordPress.com, confirm the chosen plan’s current inclusions and checkout and renewal totals.
  5. Confirm the final amount. Check current regional pricing, taxes, billing terms, and the amount due before committing. The figures here are US-page prices checked October 7, 2026, and may change.

Do not confuse WordPress.com with self-hosted WordPress

This comparison is specifically about WordPress.com, which includes hosting in its plans. WordPress.org refers to the self-hosted WordPress software; using it requires arranging hosting and maintenance separately. A WordPress.org cost estimate therefore cannot be substituted for a WordPress.com plan price.
