Galaxy users can also join an Apple user’s FaceTime call through a link, but that is different from making a native FaceTime call on a Samsung phone. Carrier video calling may be another option, depending on the device and carrier.
What is Samsung’s equivalent to FaceTime?
Samsung does not offer one Samsung-owned service that duplicates FaceTime across every Galaxy model. Samsung’s US support guidance points users to Google Meet for video calls and notes that carrier video calling may also be available on supported devices and networks. Meet is the closest default choice when you want to place a video call from a Galaxy phone. It works through the Meet app and, on some Galaxy devices, can be reached from the Phone app. A Google sign-in may be requested the first time you use it. Samsung says Meet supports up to 100 participants on devices running One UI 5 and later; that figure is Samsung’s stated capacity for those devices, not a universal limit for every device or app version.

Can a Samsung phone video call an iPhone?
Yes. The two people can use Google Meet, or the iPhone user can send a FaceTime link that the Galaxy user joins. Which route works best depends on what the other person already uses and whether you want a direct call or a link-based invitation.

- Use Meet when both people can use Meet and you want to call through the app or a supported Phone-app control.
- Use a FaceTime link when the Apple user wants to host the call in FaceTime and can send you an invitation link.
- Try carrier video calling if the feature appears in the Phone app and both carriers and devices support it.
Samsung also lists WhatsApp, Facebook, Skype, Snapchat, Google Chat, Zoom, Webex, and Discord as other possible video-call apps. These are examples, not a Samsung ranking or certification; each person’s access and features depend on the service.
How to start a Google Meet call on a Galaxy phone
- Open the Meet app. On the devices in Samsung’s guide, it appears in the Google folder. You may also be able to open the Phone app and tap its video-call icon, then choose Meet.
- If prompted, sign in to a Google account and allow the requested permissions.
- Tap New, then choose Create a new meeting, Create group, or search for or dial a contact, depending on the call you want.
- Select the contact or contacts and tap Call.
Samsung’s separate September 15, 2023 guide to Google Meet on Galaxy phones describes a flow using New call, followed by a contact or group and Call. App labels and screens can change with software and app versions, so the options on your phone may differ.

How to join a FaceTime call on a Samsung phone
An Apple user must send you a FaceTime link. Samsung’s instructions describe joining an Apple-hosted link-based call; they do not describe running the native FaceTime app on Galaxy or initiating an ordinary FaceTime call from a Samsung phone. Samsung says Galaxy users can “join FaceTime calls with Apple users.”
- Ask the Apple user to send you a FaceTime link.
- Open the link on your Samsung phone and enter a name if prompted.
- Continue to the call and allow camera or microphone access if requested.
- Wait for the host to approve your entry if the call requires it.
The joining flow is also described in Samsung’s Galaxy video-calling guide. The Apple user hosts through FaceTime; the Samsung user enters through the link.

When carrier video calling is available
Some Galaxy phones offer a video-call control in the Phone app before or during a call. Whether it appears and works depends on the phone, software, and carrier; Samsung says the feature is not available on every device or carrier. The person receiving the call also needs a supported setup.
- No video-call control? The feature may not be supported by your device or carrier. Try Meet instead.
- The other person cannot receive the video call? Samsung says the Phone app may display a message and recommends choosing Meet instead.
- Need to call across different carriers? Meet avoids relying on carrier video-call support, though both participants still need access to the service.
