Samsung’s own wording is “1.2 billion people have already found their reason with Galaxy.” That sentence does not say “active users,” and the page it appears on does not say what was counted. The headline version of the claim goes further than Samsung’s source does.
What Samsung actually says
The figure comes from Samsung’s Galaxy switching campaign page. This article checked the Saudi Arabia version, accessed October 5, 2026. The page showed no publication date. The exact sentence is: “1.2 billion people have already found their reason with Galaxy.”

It sits in promotional copy meant to persuade people to move to Galaxy. The same page covers data transfer, camera features, Galaxy AI, privacy and ecosystem devices such as Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch. These are marketing descriptions, not a statistical report or an audited user metric.

What the claim leaves out
The page does not state any of the following:
- The unit. It does not say whether the figure counts people, accounts, customers or devices. The wording says “people,” but no method backs that up.
- The meaning of “active.” The word does not appear in Samsung’s sentence, and there is no usage threshold such as monthly or daily use.
- The time frame. There is no measurement date or period, so it is unclear whether this is a cumulative total or a current one.
- Geography. Nothing says whether it is global or limited to certain markets.
- Multiple devices. The page does not say how someone who owns several Galaxy products is counted.
Those gaps matter. “People who have found their reason with Galaxy” could be a cumulative reach figure. “Active users” implies current usage. The two can differ by a wide margin, and the available sources do not show which one Samsung means.

Other places the number appears
| Source | What it says | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy campaign page (Saudi Arabia, accessed Oct 5, 2026) | “1.2 billion people have already found their reason with Galaxy” | Samsung’s own promotional wording. No method given. |
| Samsung Members community post (Jan 30, 2026) | Repeats a 1.2 billion Samsung-users milestone | A community post repeating the milestone. No definition or method. |
| LinkedIn post | Calls it 1.2 billion active devices | A secondary characterization. It switches the unit from people to devices and gives no basis. |
The repetitions do not confirm each other. They show the number circulating, and one of them changes what it measures. Samsung’s own page says “people,” a Samsung community post says “users,” and a third-party post says “active devices.” Three different units from one number is a sign the figure is being loosely paraphrased.
How to describe it accurately
- Supported: Samsung promotes a figure of 1.2 billion people connected to Galaxy.
- Not supported: that Samsung Galaxy has 1.2 billion verified active users, or 1.2 billion active devices today.
The available sources also give no basis for turning the number into a market-share or penetration rate. They do not establish unique people, and they offer no comparable metric from another company. Comparing it with a rival’s user count would mix definitions.

What would settle it
A firm answer would need Samsung to publish the unit, the activity threshold, the date and the region, for example in an investor presentation or a newsroom release that carries a methodology note. No such disclosure turned up in the sources reviewed, and no named executive or independent body has explained the figure. Until one exists, treat 1.2 billion as a marketing number from Samsung and report it with attribution.
