A sound does not automatically mean the washer has an error. On supported models, you can usually turn off the end-of-cycle chime and power-off sound, but button tones and other alerts may remain. The exact controls depend on the washer’s model, panel, and market.
What do the beeps on my Samsung washer mean?
Samsung describes several kinds of washer sounds: startup sounds when the appliance turns on, tones when you press or touch a control, a melody or chime when a cycle finishes, and alarms. Listen for when the sound occurs, rather than assuming every beep is an error. Samsung does not provide a general sound pattern that identifies every alert across all models.

The label Alarm Off or Sound On/Off does not necessarily mean that every sound is muted. Depending on the model, the setting may disable the cycle-completion melody and power-off sound while leaving button tones active. Some AddWash models also use the setting to silence the AddWash alarm. Samsung’s regional guides describe different groupings, so the exact effect is model-dependent.
How do I turn off the sound on my Samsung washer?
Use the instructions for your exact model and market: Samsung does not provide one button combination that applies to every washer. Find the model number and open its user manual; then check the control-panel labels and sound, alarm, or notification settings. Samsung notes that if the manual for a model does not explain how to toggle sounds, the feature may not be available on that model.

Physical control panel
Samsung US lists controls such as Super Speed, Alarm Off, and Extra Rinse as possible sound controls. On some panels, sound adjustment is a secondary function: hold the relevant button for three seconds. Use that only if the button or model manual identifies it as the sound control.
AI Panel or other dial-based panel
The steps vary by market and panel. Samsung India’s AI Panel instructions say to hold the indicated control for three seconds, turn the Navigation dial to Alarm, then select On or Off. Samsung UK describes a different AI Panel sequence: hold Options for five seconds, then use the dial to reach the alarm setting. Do not combine these sequences; follow the instructions for your model.
LED Panel and icon controls
Samsung UK’s LED Panel guide uses Spin and Options held together for five seconds. Samsung Australia describes a bell or crossed-speaker icon, sometimes assigned to one button and sometimes to a pair held for three seconds. Its Simple UX instructions use the hand icon, followed by selecting Alarm with the navigation dial and choosing On or Off. These are examples from regional support guides, not universal procedures.

Screen-based settings and SmartThings
On select screen-based Bespoke Combo models, Samsung US directs owners to Settings > Sounds. Depending on the model, available options may include Sound mode, Sound theme, or Volume. Some newer SmartThings-compatible washers may also show a Sounds switch or volume slider on the appliance card; some may offer an End-of-cycle Alarm choice. App controls are not available for every compatible washer.
Can I turn off the end-of-cycle chime?
On supported models, yes. Samsung’s US, India, UK, and Australia guidance describes settings that can disable the cycle-completion sound, though the name and route differ by panel and region. On some models, the same setting also turns off the power-off sound; on applicable AddWash models, it may silence the AddWash alarm. Check the manual to confirm what the control changes on your washer.
Samsung’s India, UK, and Australia guidance says the sound preference persists after a restart. Treat that as guidance for the models covered by those pages; use your local manual if the behavior differs.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why does my Samsung washer still beep when it’s on mute?
- It may be a button tone. Several Samsung guides say button sounds can remain on even when the completion melody or alarm is off.
- The setting may cover only certain sound categories. For example, an Alarm setting may affect the completion melody and power-off sound without disabling every notification.
- Your model may not support sound adjustment. Verify that the manual describes the setting and that you used the correct control sequence for the panel.
- The sound may be a safety alert. A search-result excerpt from a Samsung US laundry-combo manual says Mute does not turn off safety alert sounds. The manual page was not available to verify the details, so this is a limited, model-specific caveat—not a rule established for all Samsung washers.
If an unfamiliar alarm continues, consult the manual’s alert or troubleshooting section for your exact model rather than treating the sound setting as a way to silence every warning.
Why Samsung’s instructions differ
Samsung’s support pages are written for different markets and control panels, so their steps are not interchangeable. The US guide covers control-panel functions, SmartThings, and Bespoke Combo menus; India describes an AI Panel flow; the UK distinguishes AI and LED Panel procedures; and Australia describes local products, icon controls, and Simple UX. Select the support page and manual for the country where the washer was sold.
