If apps on your Samsung TV won’t open or connect, start with a full restart, then check whether the problem affects one app or all of them. Check the TV’s network and software next, and reinstall only the affected app before considering a Smart Hub reset. That order helps avoid signing out of accounts or losing app data unnecessarily.
Start with a full restart
Turning the TV off with the remote may leave it in standby. A cold restart fully reboots the TV and can clear a temporary glitch. Samsung recommends either holding the remote’s Power button until the TV restarts, or unplugging the TV for about 30 seconds and reconnecting it. The exact method can vary by model. Samsung’s app troubleshooting guidance and its India support instructions describe these steps.

Find out whether one app or all apps are affected
Open another app and see whether it works. If several apps fail to open or connect, check the TV’s network status in its network settings; Samsung apps require an internet connection. If other apps work but one does not, the problem is more likely specific to that app or its service, so avoid resetting the entire Smart Hub as an early response. Samsung’s Apple TV troubleshooting page uses this same distinction and directs users to Apple Support when Apple TV alone fails.
Update the TV software
Look for Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now. Menu labels and paths differ across Samsung TV models and years, so use the closest equivalent shown on your TV or follow the instructions for your model. Reinstall the affected app
If a single app remains broken after the restart and software check, open the TV’s Apps settings, select the app, and choose Delete, then download it again. On some recommended apps, Delete is unavailable; Samsung says to choose Reinstall instead. Reinstalling may remove the app’s data and require you to sign in again, so make sure you have the service’s login details first. Samsung outlines the process in its app troubleshooting instructions.
Reset Smart Hub only after simpler fixes fail
A Smart Hub reset is a broader step: it removes associated account and application information and signs you out of your Samsung account and apps. Before starting, make sure you know your TV PIN and the sign-in details for the services you use. Samsung says the default PIN is 0000 if it has not been changed. The reset menu varies by model year; if the route on your TV differs, consult the TV’s manual or Samsung’s model-specific support information. If an app is missing, check TV compatibility
If searching the TV’s app store does not show the app, your TV model may not support it. App availability varies by model, and compatibility is determined by the app developer. Check Samsung’s model and app compatibility guidance before repeatedly searching or resetting the TV.

- The TV’s apps generally will not connect: Check network status after a full restart.
- Only one app fails: Check that app’s service or support, then update the TV and reinstall the app if appropriate.
- The app cannot be found: Check whether it is compatible with your TV model.
- The problem persists across apps: Update the TV, then consider a Smart Hub reset only after accounting for its sign-out and setup consequences.
Samsung’s menu names and reset paths vary by model and year. If a listed option is absent, use the instructions for your specific TV rather than guessing at a reset path.
