To mirror a compatible Samsung Galaxy tablet to a TV, swipe down to open Quick Settings, tap Smart View, choose the TV, and approve the connection on the TV if prompted. Both devices should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Smart View availability and compatibility depend on the tablet, TV, and software version.
How do I screen mirror my Samsung tablet to my TV?
- Turn on the TV and connect the tablet and TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On the tablet, swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings. Swipe down again if needed to see the full panel.
- Tap Smart View, then select your TV from the list.
- If the TV displays a connection prompt, select Allow. The tablet screen should appear on the TV after approval.
If Smart View is not visible in Quick Settings, use the panel’s Edit option to add it if available. Samsung describes Smart View as a wireless screen-mirroring feature for compatible Galaxy devices and TVs; it is not available on every device. Check the model-specific guidance for both devices if the feature or TV does not appear. To stop mirroring, disconnect from Smart View on the tablet or press the TV remote’s Return button. Menu labels and controls can vary by model and software version. Why won’t Smart View find my TV or connect?
Work through these checks in order. Available settings and menu names differ among TV models.

The TV is missing from the list
- Make sure the TV is on and both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Check that the TV supports the relevant screen-mirroring feature and that the tablet supports Smart View. Compatibility depends on the exact models and software.
- Refresh or search again if that option appears in the tablet’s Smart View screen.
- Check the TV’s connection permissions or device-access settings. If the TV asks whether to allow the tablet, select Allow.
The connection fails or the picture stutters
- Install available software updates for the tablet and TV, then restart both devices.
- Reduce wireless interference and check that the network connection is stable.
- If Smart View reports a VPN setting error, disconnect the VPN and try again, as Samsung advises in its troubleshooting guidance.
The picture looks too small
Look for an aspect-ratio control in the Smart View settings and adjust it if available. The control’s name and location vary by model and software version.
A video or app shows a black screen
Samsung’s US troubleshooting page says DRM-protected content cannot be mirrored. Some protected movies or app content therefore may not appear even when the tablet’s screen otherwise mirrors correctly. If the app offers its own cast function, try that instead: casting supported app content is different from mirroring the entire tablet display. Consider a reset only as a last resort
Some Samsung troubleshooting guidance includes a factory reset, but it erases device data and should not be an early fix for a connection problem. Samsung also notes that resetting is not a lasting solution when an app issue requires a future update. Try the network, permission, update, and restart checks first.
Can I mirror a Galaxy Tab to a TV without Wi-Fi?
Samsung’s Smart View instructions call for the tablet and TV to use the same Wi-Fi network, so this is not the recommended route when Wi-Fi is unavailable. For a non-smart TV, Samsung UK describes using an HDMI adapter. Whether that works depends on the exact Galaxy Tab model and its port’s video-output support; do not assume every USB-C tablet supports video over USB-C. Check the tablet’s specifications before buying an adapter. Samsung cautions that it cannot guarantee the performance of third-party adapters: Samsung UK screen-mirroring guidance and Samsung UK HDMI-adapter guidance.

A USB-C to HDMI adapter is a possible search term when checking options, not a guarantee of compatibility. Confirm both the tablet’s model and video-output support before purchasing.

Cast from an app
If you only want to play a supported video or other app content, use the app’s cast function when available. This sends supported content to the TV rather than duplicating everything shown on the tablet.

Connect through SmartThings
Samsung UK says SmartThings can connect to most Samsung TVs manufactured from 2016 onward. That is Samsung’s compatibility statement, not a guarantee for every TV or tablet. Wireless DeX is separate from Smart View: it provides a desktop-style interface rather than simply mirroring the tablet screen. Samsung’s US compatibility guide lists supported device families and says Tab S9 FE and Tab S10 FE series are not supported for Wireless DeX. Its guide also describes compatible Samsung TVs and Smart Monitors from 2018 onward, subject to device compatibility.
