To stop Secure Wi-Fi on a supported Galaxy phone, open Settings > Security and privacy > Secure Wi-Fi and tap Stop, if that option appears. To leave the service and erase its stored personal data, open More options (⋮) > Settings > Erase personal data, review the prompt, then choose Erase and leave. Menu names and availability vary by device and region.
Choose the Secure Wi-Fi action that matches your goal

These controls serve different purposes: use Stop for current protection, disable Auto protect Wi-Fi to prevent automatic activation, or choose Erase and leave to leave the service and erase its stored personal data. Samsung’s guidance is available in its US Secure Wi-Fi instructions and UK Secure Wi-Fi instructions.

How to stop Secure Wi-Fi on your Samsung phone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Security and privacy, then Secure Wi-Fi. If the menus differ, use the Settings search box and search for Secure Wi-Fi.
- Tap Stop if it is shown, and follow any on-screen prompt.
Samsung’s current US support route uses Security and privacy. Some older instructions use Biometrics and security, so the path may not match every Galaxy model or software version. Samsung describes Secure Wi-Fi as a service for browsing on unsecured public Wi-Fi; that is Samsung’s description, not an independent security assessment.

- Open Settings and search for Secure Wi-Fi if it is not immediately visible.
- Open Secure Wi-Fi and find Auto protect Wi-Fi in its settings.
- Switch off automatic protection. If protection is already active and you also want it to end now, use Stop when available.
Samsung’s German support guidance says Secure Wi-Fi may activate on a vulnerable Wi-Fi connection after an initial notification. Disabling Auto protect addresses automatic behavior; it is not the same as leaving the service.

Leave Secure Wi-Fi and erase its personal data
- Open Settings > Security and privacy > Secure Wi-Fi, or find Secure Wi-Fi using Settings search.
- Tap More options (⋮) > Settings > Erase personal data.
- Review the confirmation prompt and select Erase and leave if you want to proceed.
This is the documented route for leaving Secure Wi-Fi while erasing its stored personal data. It is a more consequential choice than stopping protection or changing Auto protect.
Why Secure Wi-Fi may be missing or unavailable
- The menu route differs: Search Settings for “Secure Wi-Fi.” Newer and older Samsung guidance uses different security-menu labels.
- Your device or service environment may not support it: Samsung says Secure Wi-Fi is not available on every Galaxy phone and that availability may depend on country, carrier, and network environment.
- A particular app or website may not work through it: Samsung notes that some apps or websites may not allow a Secure Wi-Fi connection.
If Settings search does not find Secure Wi-Fi, the feature may not be supported for your device, carrier, or region. Samsung’s US support page describes availability limitations.

Check your plan details on the phone
Do not rely on a universal monthly allowance: Samsung’s US support page gives two different free-plan figures, and its UK page describes different allowances by Android version. Open the Secure Wi-Fi Protection plan screen on your device for the details that apply to your account and software. Plan fees and availability are not needed to turn the feature off.
