Samsung S99H vs UK S95H: Why the Two 2026 OLED TVs Are Different

Samsung uses the S95H name for different products across markets. In the UK side-by-side test, the S99H looked brighter and more vibrant than the distinct UK S95H.

In the UK, the Samsung S99H and the Samsung S95H are distinct televisions. The naming is confusing because Samsung uses “S95H” for a different 2026 OLED in other markets. In What Hi-Fi?’s UK side-by-side test, the S99H looked clearly brighter and more vibrant than the UK S95H; the reviewer also identified the S99H as QD-OLED but could not confirm the UK S95H’s panel type.

Why the S99H and S95H names are easy to mix up

Samsung’s model names vary by market. The S99H sold in the UK is called S95H in some other markets, while the UK lineup also has a separate television named S95H. That means a comparison of the UK S99H and UK S95H is not a comparison of one television under two names: it is a comparison of two different UK models.

What the UK side-by-side test found

What Hi-Fi? set the two UK models up side by side in its test room. Reviewer Tom Parsons reported that the S99H was clearly better in brightness and vibrancy, with a difference that was immediately appreciable. The UK S95H was still described as a very good TV, but it ranked below the S99H in this comparison.

The comparison reports qualitative viewing observations, not numeric brightness or color measurements. It does not establish how large the difference is in a particular picture mode, screen size, room or measurement test, so there is no published figure to use when estimating the gap.

Panel type: one identification is confirmed, the other is not

Samsung S99H

What Hi-Fi? identifies the S99H as QD-OLED. Its stronger brightness and vibrancy were the reviewer’s observations in the side-by-side test.

Samsung UK S95H

The reviewer could not be completely certain of the UK S95H’s panel technology. The tentative impression was that it looked more like a lower-step QD-OLED than a WOLED, but that is not a confirmed specification. Treat the S95H’s panel type as unverified unless Samsung’s documentation for the exact UK model code establishes it.

Screen finish and design differences

The two screens were described as having very similar matte coatings. That similarity does not erase the brightness and vibrancy difference reported in the test, and it does not establish that the panels or full specifications are the same.

The UK S95H reminded the reviewer visually of Samsung’s 2025 S95F. That is an appearance comparison, not evidence that the two share a panel or all specifications. Samsung’s 2025 US announcement described the S95F as having upgraded Glare-Free technology and a 165Hz refresh rate, and claimed a 30% brightness boost; that company claim is not a measured comparison with either 2026 UK model.

The S99H’s metal frame was considered attractive for wall mounting, though potentially awkward on the supplied feet. The review notes that the UK S95H did not turn out to be the simpler, cheaper equivalent the reviewer had expected. The available comparison does not provide model-specific VESA or weight figures, so check the exact SKU’s installation specifications before choosing a wall mount.

How to interpret Samsung’s US S95H specifications

Samsung Electronics America’s 2 April 2026 announcement describes the US-market S95H as its 2026 flagship OLED. It lists FloatLayer metal-bezel styling, Art Store access and Wireless One Connect Ready capability; Samsung says the optional Wireless One Connect Box is sold separately. The announcement also attributes Glare Free technology, 165Hz gaming features and the NQ4 AI Gen3 processor to the US S95H and S90H.

These are manufacturer statements about Samsung’s US lineup. Because “S95H” names a different product in the UK, do not assume that the US model’s features, accessories or specifications apply to the UK S95H. Confirm them against documentation for the exact model and market.

US launch prices are not UK prices

Which model should you compare or buy?

  • If brightness and color vibrancy are priorities: the UK side-by-side review favors the S99H, based on the reviewer’s visual assessment.
  • If you are researching a product listed as S95H: establish the sales market and full model code first. The name alone does not identify the same television worldwide.
  • If panel technology matters to your decision: the comparison identifies the S99H as QD-OLED but does not verify the UK S95H’s panel type.
  • If reflections or screen finish matter: both tested screens were described as similarly matte, but the comparison supplies no numeric reflection or brightness measurements.
  • If installation or connected-box features matter: verify stand, wall-mount and One Connect details for the precise regional SKU; US feature announcements do not prove UK availability or what is included in the box.

RTINGS’ comparison of the previous-generation S95F and S90F offers model-year context, not a direct test of the UK S99H and S95H. It lists the S95F as matte and 165Hz and the S90F as glossy and 144Hz, and reports that the S95F is brighter, more accurate in HDR out of the box and better at handling direct reflections. Those results should not be carried over to the two 2026 UK models.
