To use Samsung Quick Share with a Windows PC, first install the app that matches the PC: Samsung’s app for compatible Samsung PCs, or Google’s Quick Share app for non-Samsung PCs. Then turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices, make the receiving device visible, and select it from the sender’s Quick Share screen.
Choose the right Quick Share app for your PC
The PC’s manufacturer determines which Windows app to start with. Google says its Quick Share app is for non-Samsung PCs and directs Samsung PC owners to Samsung’s app. You do not need to buy a Galaxy Book if your existing computer meets the applicable requirements.

Google’s Quick Share page gives conflicting information about ARM-based Windows devices: its FAQ says Windows 11 and later, while its footer says ARM devices are not supported. Check the current app listing for your exact PC rather than assuming ARM compatibility.
Samsung cautions that some or all functions can be restricted depending on the PC maker and model. The listed requirements are compatibility guidance, not a guarantee that every feature will work on every qualifying computer.

Send files from a Galaxy phone or tablet to the PC
- On both devices, turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Keep them nearby and make sure the PC is discoverable in its Quick Share app.
- On the Galaxy phone or tablet, select the files you want to send and tap the share icon.
- Choose Quick Share, then select the PC from the nearby-device list.
- On the PC, accept the incoming transfer if prompted and choose where to save the files.
Labels and screen layouts may differ by device model and software version. If the PC is not listed, check its visibility setting and use the troubleshooting steps below. Samsung also documents sharing by QR code when a nearby recipient does not appear.
Send files from Windows or receive files on the PC
Share a file from the PC
- Open the applicable Quick Share app on Windows and choose the receiving device.
- Select the files to send. Samsung’s Windows support guidance also describes selecting a file in File Explorer, opening its context menu, and choosing Quick Share.
- Accept the transfer on the receiving device.
The File Explorer route and some controls may vary with Windows and app versions. Samsung’s detailed support article is dated May 21, 2021; its procedural guidance may help, but do not treat its historical app-version details as current minimum requirements.

Accept files on the PC
When a transfer arrives, accept the notification and choose the available save option, such as saving the file or saving and opening it. The receiving PC must be visible to the sending Android device; Google’s Windows app provides a visibility control.

Make the receiving device discoverable
On a receiving Samsung device, turn on the screen and set Who can share with you to allow the sender. Samsung lists these choices:

- No one: Other people cannot share with the device through the visibility setting.
- Contacts only: Sharing is allowed from contacts.
- Anyone nearby: Nearby senders can find the device.
Devices signed in to the same Samsung account can share regardless of this setting. For a Google Quick Share Windows PC, make sure the PC is visible to the Android device. Exact menu paths and labels can differ across software versions.
Know which sharing mode fits the transfer
Samsung publishes different limits for its sharing methods. These are Samsung’s service specifications, not independent measurements of transfer speed or reliability.

Private sharing is available on Galaxy phones, Tabs, and Books, not on PC according to Samsung’s guidance. For a nearby transfer, use the device list; QR or contact sharing is an alternative when the recipient is not conveniently discoverable.

Fix common Quick Share connection problems
- Neither device appears: Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices, check that the receiver is visible, and keep the devices close. Google recommends a distance of no more than 5 m (16 feet).
- The receiver is not accepting transfers: Turn on its screen and check its sharing visibility. On a Samsung receiver, use Contacts only or Anyone nearby as appropriate; devices on the same Samsung account are an exception to that visibility setting.
- Google Quick Share cannot find an Android device: Google advises enabling location on both devices as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Samsung Quick Share still cannot find a nearby device: Samsung’s support article advises turning off Smart View, Mobile Hotspot, or Wi-Fi Direct while using Quick Share. That article dates from 2021, so controls or behavior may differ in newer versions.
- The PC app will not install or connect: Verify that you chose the app for the PC’s manufacturer, update Windows and the Quick Share app, and check the wireless drivers. For Samsung’s stated Intel-driver PC category, the listed minimums are Bluetooth 22.50.02 and Wi-Fi 22.50.07.
- The PC is Samsung-made but Google Quick Share is installed: Google directs Samsung PC owners to Samsung’s Quick Share app.
