Samsung Notes is designed for Galaxy Book PCs, and Samsung cautions that it may not work on other Windows computers. If your PC is compatible, you can install it from Microsoft Store, type or handwrite notes, annotate PDFs, and sync notes with a Galaxy phone or tablet through Samsung Cloud.
How do I get Samsung Notes on my PC?
Samsung’s documented installation route is Microsoft Store. On a PC where the app is not already installed:

- Open Start, choose All apps, and open Microsoft Store.
- Search for Samsung Notes and select Get.
- When installation finishes, select Open.
You can sign in with a Samsung account for syncing or choose Skip to start creating notes. Syncing requires an account. Samsung’s PC guide explains the installation and first-run options.
Can I use Samsung Notes on a Windows laptop?
Samsung says the PC app is optimized for Galaxy Book models and warns: “It may not be compatible with other Windows computers.” That means availability or compatibility on a non-Galaxy Windows laptop is not guaranteed. Samsung’s guide does not provide a complete Windows-version or hardware compatibility list. Check whether Samsung Notes is available in Microsoft Store on your PC, and check the computer’s own touchscreen and pen capabilities before relying on handwriting features.

Keyboard-only or touchscreen use
You can type notes with a keyboard. On a supported Galaxy Book, you can also write with an S Pen. Samsung says a stylus or finger can be used on touchscreen models that do not include an S Pen; a pen accessory is not a universal requirement.
What can I do in Samsung Notes on PC?
Type and organize notes
Text mode supports formatted text, checklists, numbered lists, and bullets. You can search notes, arrange them in folders, and edit them later. Samsung says notes are saved automatically when you return to the app’s home view.

Handwrite, draw, and convert handwriting
Pen and highlighter tools let you write or draw, with options to change pen type, size, stroke, and color. Samsung also lists selection, undo and redo, handwriting straightening, handwriting-to-text conversion, and neat-shape tools.

Add other content
You can insert images from the PC and attach voice recordings, audio, drawings, or text boxes. These options let a note hold more than typed text, though the available input methods depend on your computer’s hardware.

Can I write on a PDF in Samsung Notes?
Yes. Samsung says you can bring a PDF into a PC note and draw on it or add text boxes. This is annotation, not editing the PDF’s original text: the existing text cannot be edited as text inside the note.
Samsung’s broader feature and settings guidance also describes PDF import and annotation, but its instructions are largely for the phone and tablet app. Do not assume that mobile menu locations or export steps are identical in the PC app.

How do I sync Samsung Notes from my phone to my PC?
Use Samsung Cloud and the same Samsung account on both devices. Sync must be enabled in Samsung Notes settings on the PC and on the phone or tablet.
- On the PC: Open Samsung Notes settings, choose Sync with Samsung Cloud, and sign in to your Samsung account. Make sure the sync switch above Sync now is on.
- On the phone or tablet: Open Samsung Notes, go to Menu and then Settings, and enable Sync with Samsung Cloud.
Samsung describes synced notes as accessible across devices for editing, sharing, and organization.

What about OneNote?
Samsung’s support overview contains conflicting information: one section describes syncing Samsung Notes with Microsoft OneNote, while another says that syncing to OneNote is no longer available and points users to Samsung Cloud. For current Galaxy device-to-PC syncing, use Samsung Cloud rather than relying on OneNote integration.
Can I export or share notes as files?
Samsung’s feature and settings documentation lists PDF, Word, PowerPoint, image, and text as save or sharing formats, as well as Samsung Notes format for sharing. That documentation is largely mobile-focused, so check the PC app itself for the available export choices and menu path instead of assuming the phone workflow applies unchanged.
Which setup should I choose?
- Galaxy Book with a supported pen or touchscreen: A good fit if you want both typed and handwritten notes, subject to the specific model’s input support.
- Other Windows PC: Compatibility is uncertain; confirm Microsoft Store availability and test the app on your own hardware before depending on it.
- Keyboard-only PC: Typed notes and organization features can still be useful; handwriting requires suitable touch or pen input.
- PDF annotation: Useful for drawing and adding text boxes, but not for changing the imported PDF’s underlying text.
- Cross-device access: Enable Samsung Cloud sync on both the PC and Galaxy device with the same Samsung account. For files you want to keep or send separately, check the PC app’s export options.
