Samsung says it combines 30 images into one photo using multi-frame processing; how you find the mode depends on your Galaxy model and software version.
What Samsung Night mode does
Night mode is designed for photographing dim scenes without flash. Samsung says the camera captures extra light with its sensors and uses multi-frame processing to combine 30 images into one photo. Samsung UK describes this as AI multi-frame processing that optimizes color and detail.

The 30-image figure is Samsung’s description of its processing method, not an independent image-quality benchmark. Samsung’s support material does not explain the precise frame alignment, selection, denoising, or fusion algorithms, so those implementation details should not be inferred.

Common route in Camera
- Open the Camera app.
- Swipe through the camera modes to More, then tap Night.
- Compose the photo and tap Capture. Keep the phone still while it takes the shot.
This is Samsung’s general US support route, not a universal interface path. Supported modes and their locations vary by phone and software.

One UI 8.5 and other interface differences
Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance says that, starting with One UI 8.5, Night mode is integrated into Photo mode and can be accessed through a crescent-moon Night shot control that appears according to lighting conditions. Samsung also documents enabling Night as a separate mode through Camera Assistant. These instructions are specific to the software and device in question; they do not establish that every Galaxy phone uses the same arrangement.
Samsung’s UK guide, updated July 26, 2023, lists specific S, Z, Note, and A series models, but that dated list is not a complete current compatibility guide. Check Samsung support information for your exact phone if the mode is missing or the menus differ.

How to get a steadier night photo
Samsung advises holding the phone as still as possible. In low light, a capture may take several seconds, depending on the lighting, so movement during the shot can affect the result. A tripod is an optional way to stabilize the phone for a stationary scene; it cannot freeze a moving person, pet, or vehicle.
Night mode avoids flash, according to Samsung’s low-light and camera-modes guidance. If the subject itself is moving, stabilizing the phone alone may not solve blur: the camera still needs to record the subject during the exposure.

Night mode or Pro mode?
| Consideration | Night mode | Pro mode |
|---|---|---|
| How it works for the photographer | Automatic low-light still-photo mode; Samsung says it uses multi-frame processing and does not use flash. | Manual controls include shutter speed, ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance, according to Samsung. |
| Best fit | A quick, unpredictable low-light moment when you want the camera to manage the capture. | A planned scene when you want to choose settings yourself, especially with a stationary subject. |
| Main trade-off | Less direct control over the capture. | More control, but you must make the settings choices. |
Samsung’s low-light guide notes that a longer shutter time can capture more light, while higher ISO can make an image grainier. Controls and behavior can differ by model; some examples in that guide use a Galaxy S21 Ultra, so do not assume every current Galaxy phone offers identical options.

Samsung’s support pages explain Night mode’s intended use and describe its multi-frame approach, but they do not provide an independently measured percentage improvement or controlled comparison of photo quality. Results will depend on the phone, scene, subject movement, and how steady the camera is during capture.

Samsung’s low-light guide quotes photographer and creative director Marilyn Hue describing the combination of multi-frame processing and extra-light-capturing camera sensors. That is Hue’s statement in Samsung’s guide, rather than a separate technical specification of Samsung’s processing.
